"Diet" cat food

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My cat is about 5 years old, and while she doesn't suffer from hairballs much, she has put on some weight in the last 2 years. Recently, a friend came over and commented she looked "round". So I was very excited to try the Iams ProActive Weight & Hairball care cat food to see if she could lose some weight. She made the transition from her old food no problem, she seemed to like the flavor (chicken). The pieces are small and round, so they are easy to eat. The bag comes with a simple chart that provides the recommended amount of food to feed your cat if the goal is to maintain or lose weight. So far my cat seems to enjoy the food and has had no problems eating the recommended amount (she doesn't stare sadly at her empty bowl the way she would in the past when I tried to put her on a "diet"). I am taking her to the vet in about 3 months to see if she has managed to lose any weight, but I am hopeful!

This food doesn't completely eliminate hairballs but it does somewhat help prevent them. My cat has a sensitive stomach and the food doesn't seem to upset her at all. She usually finishes her bowl completely each day and if she doesn't, it sitting out overnight doesn't make it stale. It's good food! I've never opened a bag to a bad surprise of something. I usually buy a large bag and open it into another container for easier storage. If I had the chance to improve the product, I would make the tops or cases resealable somehow or easier to open and close after each use so buying another container wasn't necessary.

Really likes Taste!

Ms Kitti has been eating the dry verity of this for the 3 years I have had her and we have had no issues. She won't touch wet food, human food or anything in between. What she was eating before I don't know as she is a rescue, but as a 15 year old Maine Coon she is thriving on Iams dry.

My Cats LOVED this food!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My cats are usually incredibly picky when it comes to their dry food. Whenever I try a new brand, I have to slowly mix it into their old food and slowly transition it just to see if they like it or not. I've been stuck feeding them the same food for quite awhile just because they wouldn't touch any other brand. When i got the Iams ProActive Health cat food, I started the same way: by mixing a bit of it with their favorite dry food. Then over the coming days/weeks, I put more and more Iams, until they were only eating Iams. They haven't had a single issue since! I have noticed they even look a bit slimmer and have more energy! I love that I have finally found a new food for them that they not only love, but is healthy for them. This is definitely my new go-to food!

Something seems different....

My cats have been eating this food religiously for at least six years, but for the last few months they just don't seem to be as enthusiastic about it. They're still eating it, albeit reluctantly, so I bought a few more bags to see if it was a fluke, but they haven't cared for it at all. This week, they will barely touch it. What's changed? Pellet size, yes, but that was at the beginning of the year. Maybe I got a bad batch? But I have five cats and every one of them is barely eating. Will try a different flavor and see if that makes a difference.

He Loves it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have an “Iams” cat so when I was offered this free sample of the Iams ProActive Health Indoor Health and Hairball Care I knew it would be a hit. He can’t get enough! I’ve tried many other brands and he is a typical finicky cat but with Iams he begs for more. The first time I feed him this food he went nuts, eating the entire amount in one sittings. I used to feed my cat all different brands of cat food but when he threw up a hairball it would just stain the carpets. With Iams it doesn't stain and there has been actually far fewer hairballs since I switched to this Hairball Care food. His coat is shiny and soft and he just seems more happier now. I would defiantly recommend this product to all with cats that have weight and/or hairball issues.

Barf barf barf

I've been using this for a few years, with good results. So when my 5-6 year old cat started vomiting everywhere and having diarrhea, I didn't even think to suspect the food, because the bag looked the same as always. A month and a half of trying to figure out the problem, and I finally thought to look into the food, thinking maybe I had bought expired bags, or it was moldy, or whatever. Come to find out, the formula has changed, without any indication on the packaging other than the addition of turkey and greens in the tiny blue strip. Thanks for causing unnecessary distress and weight loss to my cat, ruined rugs, and wasted time.

My cats ADORE this food. They literally ate through a cardboard delivery box and scratched a hole into the package to eat this overnight when I first bought it. It also is one of the only foods that they don't tend to eat too quickly and vomit. Still working on the losing weight, but they havent gained any!

so far, she likes it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My mama kitty is reacting favorably to the Iams brand proactive health cat food. It seems to have a flavor she likes (I don't know, haven't tried it myself), and she seems to enjoy eating it more than the other brands we've tried. Don't tell her it's good for her!

Vocal protest for more Iams

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We eventually finished our bag of IAMS® PROACTIVE HEALTH™ ADULT INDOOR™ WEIGHT & HAIRBALL CARE and it was a sad day in my Lorena's life apparently. I had a bag of her old food to finish and at $23 a bag (!) I felt obligated to use it up. We started spending this much on her food because of her weight issue. Well when we started this new food that we received from Iams, she fell in love immediately. She would literally run to her bowl at breakfast and dinner time, calling out her delight on the way. On the sad day the bag was gone and we had to switch back she refused to eat. It took her a couple days to get hungry enough to get over being mad at the change. I should point out this is the only time she ever lost weight on her old expensive food. So the moral of the story is, we are going to be switching to IAMS® PROACTIVE HEALTH™ ADULT INDOOR™ WEIGHT & HAIRBALL CARE. She did so well with this food and was so happy its a no brainer. Iams is for us, thank you Iams for this opportunity to try such a good product. #Imabzzagen#gotitfree
