To create the proper slush texture, recipes must contain at least 4% sugar. If the sugar content is too low, the unit will alert you and may not produce the desired results. While sugar-free or low-sugar liquids will not work on their own, alternatives such as honey, maple syrup, or coconut sugar can be used as long as the 4% minimum sugar requirement is met.
