Looks great, sounds amazing but the lag needs fixi
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the product for free from Influenster and Oakley in exchange for my honest review. I’ve been using the Oakley Meta Vanguard for a bit now, and it’s honestly a mixed bag but in a very fixable way. Let’s start with the issues: video calls are extremely laggy, which is disappointing for a product that’s supposed to feel seamless. Also, every time I try to export photos or videos, it asks for WiFi permission again, even though it’s already been granted. That part feels glitchy and slows everything down. Now the good stuff because there is a lot of it. The music feature is elite with surprisingly good sound quality, especially for workouts. I’ve been using it for running and workout recording, and that part is actually really convenient. The design is sleek and lightweight, and I’ve gotten compliments from so many people — it doesn’t look like typical smart glasses. The camera quality is also genuinely impressive. Overall, I love the concept and the experience when it works. If the software gets optimized, this could easily be a standout product.

Love it but some drawbacks
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The camera and video quality are surprisingly good for glasses, making hands-free photos and videos during activities like cycling or sightseeing incredibly convenient and safer than pulling out a phone. Audio quality is also solid, and listening to music feels immersive for an open-ear design. However, battery life is the biggest drawback. While advertised for longer use, real-world performance falls short—especially when recording video or playing music at higher volumes. 2–4 hours of use depending on how much video you capture, which makes. Comfort is generally good, though the lens can feel a bit dark in lower light, and software features like photo organization still feel limited. Overall, great for short, active sessions and casual use. If you value convenience, audio, and hands-free capture, they’re enjoyable but battery constraints prevent them from being a true all day wearable.
Hi there, thank you for leaving us such a detailed review. We are glad that aside from the battery life you are enjoying your experience with the Vanguard glasses. We hope you have a 5-star day!
Good but need improvement!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Oakley Meta glasses have great speakers for music and take clear photos and videos, even while snowboarding. However, the frame is large and heavy, and after wearing them for a while, it started to hurt my ears. Voice commands to record videos were unreliable on the mountain—often not working, possibly due to connectivity or the glasses not hearing commands clearly. Additionally, the music frequently stopped whenever I adjusted or slightly lifted the glasses to reduce ear discomfort, which was frustrating.
Smart glasses that actually work outside
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've really enjoyed using the Oakley Meta Vanguard glasses, especially for outdoor walks and winter activities. They feel like solid performance sunglasses first, with the tech built in in a way that doesn't get in the way. The frame is sleek and stylish and you wouldn't immediately know they're full of high tech capabilities. The Prizm 24K lenses are great, particularly in winter. Glare off snow can be intense, and these make everything look clearer and more comfortable without feeling too dark. I've worn them skiing and during cold, windy walks, and visibility has stayed sharp the whole time. The wide field of view also helps when you're moving fast and want to stay aware of what's around you. The hands-free camera is one of my favorite features. It's really nice to be able to capture moments on the slopes or during walks with the fam without pulling out a phone or stopping what you're doing. The Meta AI features pair easily with Garmin and Strava and make it simple to check stats during or after a workout. I was also pleasantly surprised by the audio quality. Even in windy conditions, I could still hear prompts clearly, and the glasses stayed comfortable and secure. They've handled sweat, snow, and cold weather without any issues. Overall, these have made my outdoor time and skiing activities more enjoyable and convenient. If you like staying active year-round and want smart features that actually feel useful, these are a great option.

Step into the future
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am not going to sit here and say these are perfect, I'll list the flaws here shortly, but these are definitely a big step for the future. To start off, the packaging is impeccable. When I first opened it felt like I was a little kid on Christmas. The boxing just opened like a flower, revealing a gorgeous pair of glasses. The case that holds the glasses is very durable and is only as bulky as required. Fine curves hug the glasses while keeping it slim. Next, the setup. Really couldn't be easier. Walks you through step by step so if you are familiar with downloading an app and walking through instructions then you are all set. Put them on and see the world in a new light. Or matter of fact, less light. The glasses encase your entire vision providing amazing protection against those bright days. Looking out into crystal clear skies while reducing blur is outstanding. Has became my go to driving glasses. Walking through a winter wonderland, snow falling and glasses remained clear and fog free. Now let's talk about features. Sound is incredible. Clear sound and easy volume controls. Simple easy touch controls. Taking pictures and videos couldn't be easier. Either click or hold a button or simply ask Meta to do it. Here is the best part, if taking a video, ask Meta to start and stop video. It will trim the video before you ask it to end so you do not have to hear asking Meta in the video. Remarkable. The frames are sturdy and sharp as one would expect from Oakley and fit snug on the head making them feel safe. Finally, tested in and out of the car and the transition is flawless. Now onto the criticism part. The frames are tight which is nice, but can come across as too tight. For the music, although remarkable, the louder it gets the more your neighbors can hear. Unless they are set low, there is no privacy. One more gripe would be the placement of volume controls and picture/video buttons. They are in the same side so each time you want to take a picture or record a video, be prepared to pause or change the volume if listening to music. Finally, as no fault with the glasses, Meta AI needs work. Although basic tasks are great, it is limited to current AI limitations. Struggles with identifications and can get confused easily, but to take photos, record videos, basic identifications, works without error. So to summarize, these will not make you the terminator or let you see the future, they are definitely a step in that direction and I would recommend these to anyone who wants to experience the beginning to a great thing.
Hi zangoochi_139, Thank you for this incredibly detailed review! We love that the glasses have become your go-to for driving, and that you enjoyed the unboxing, lens clarity, and smart video trimming. We also appreciate your constructive notes on the tight fit, audio privacy, button placement, and Meta AI limits. Your feedback is highly valuable as we work on future updates. Welcome to the future!
Surprisingly useful
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These were surprisingly useful. I've been using these while biking. Sunglasses wise, they are very high quality lenses, same as other Oakley lenses. I have no warping or glare when wearing these, and the yellow tint is great for reducing sun but keeping definition. I was able to wear these in shade and still able to see. It also completely block all wind, as well, if not better than goggles. The camera on this is surprisingly good. It's about the same as the front camera on most smartphones. I use it more than expected, since I can just reach up and snap a quick picture while biking. The video/timelapse is really cool, it's not a true video so it takes up less room. But it does make it look like you're going super fast. The audio is also really good and it syncs easily with my music apps. However. I do have a few cons. The first is that there isn't a way to adjust the ear height, I have to stick these about a centimeter above my ears. And these are heavier than average because of all the extra hardware, so they slide down and fold down the tops of my ears. When I have my bike helmet on, I can just stick the ear loop into the helmet and they stay up. But it's not ideal and isn't the most comfortable. Also, I really dislike that the meta app is 70% AI generation, and only 30% glasses functionally. It feels like there are so many more things that the glasses could do.
