We used them for an ice cream cake dessert recently and they could handle the weight and dampness of a large piece of the cake. These mahjong plates are nice. I like the design and the vibrant color on the plates. We used them for our side dishes like vegetables and for our desserts. They are good sizes and the bottom is sturdy so I had my son hold them on the bottom as the edge of the plates are flimsy but other than that they are great.

To be honest these are a lot thinner than most of the plates I've bought from sam's club. I prefer the members mark ones over these when it comes to functionality. I enjoy the design and they get the job done but I would probably buy a different plate over these.
