Data import failed

BAC / TurboTax (Intuit): The interface between Merrill and INTU failed during importing data from Merrill into TurboTax. After brief time, TurboTax displayed message saying the data import failed try later. I retried many times; created new TurboTax files again but still failed. Eventually, I entered the Merrill data by hand. Not only was the manual process tedious but the chance of error was greatly increased. Note: TurboTax was able to import data from Merrill Edge successfully. Note: Each attempt to import data from Merrill, I received email from Merrill, “We received your consent to share your account info with Intuit”.

Handling of 1099's is bad

The handling of foreign tax credits is horrible. The instructions seem to encourage skipping the credit altogether. Following the instructions requires multiple passes through the calculations to build a file that can be e-filed. This is not professional and does not build confidence in the final answer. Another issue is it is nearly to impossible to match the 1099 downloaded to Turbo Tax with the pdf download so that I know how to answer the question. In addition, question were asked to fill in numbers that Turbo Tax should know from the downloaded 1099.

Turbotax sometimes your improvements are not that

Turbo tax has made Filling mutual funds and stocks the ordinary dividends or distributions much harder than it was in the past It's not very clear it doesn't give you a lot of feedback on how you should access this Several years ago it was very clear and understandable when you put in a company's name and it downloaded not so much now Sometimes those new improvements aren't very good this is a good example

Good product except for Schedule D transactions

I have been using Turbo tax for decades.Has always been user friendly. However, this year very difficult to import from financial companies. The Schedule D portion of my return was very frustrating. All prior year Turbo Tax schedule D info was simple.

Pooh

too many updates. Do your homework. 751 !!!!!! times I had to click no as to digital asset even though I answered the question in the interview. There is a 1099R glitch in that you have to manually enter the gross distribution in the state box despite the fact that it is blank on the 1099 in order to complete the return. The interview process for stocks interest and dividends isEXTREMELY AWKWAD AND NOT AT ALL STRAIGHTFORWARD. Half of the time when trying to delete the record the screen freezes and you have to shut down the form.

Great for federal and state but not City

Great for federal and state but oh my. If there is a city involved and you commute in and out of the city Turbo Tax prevents efiling of federal and state. This sucks as Turbo Tax won't take the correct numbers as it thinks something different than my reality.

Thing turbo tax need to fix

If I use Turbo tax year after year, why do I need to look up past years information, the software should be able to do that for me. Also, I don't like the fact that once I answer a question in a section and I revisit it I have to answer the same question again, please fix this.

Most taxing part of tax time was using TurboTax

After 20+ years of using TurboTax this may be last year. Was never able to download usual forms from my brokerage. When filling out certain forms, found that many questions and answers posted online applied to TurboTax online but were different from desktop version.

TurboTax - Good, but needs state for no more $

I have been using TurboTax for a very long time. I think it does a good job of transferring last year's tax information which saves time. However, given that I already pay a large sum of money for the use TurboTax, I strongly feel that electronic filing for the state taxes should already be included. I could understand if the system limited the use of the electronic filing to one use, but electronic filing would be made so much simpler if the cost of e-File for states would be a major advantage over any other method.

TurboTax Has Glitches

TurboTAx is 90% great. It's that other 5% that is terrible. I had two massive, time consuming problems that could have been avoided had the TurboTax program been properly programmed. One involved the questions asked or maybe should have been asked. I've had this happen in past years. The second problem was that TurboTax programmed reviews and checks revealed no issues until I was prohibited from transmitting my returns. Why then? Why not earlier? In fact, I don't think it was an issue in the first place. My data was correctly entered. After hours of angst, I found a work around for the supposed "error." Completing my return should have taken a matter of hours. Because of programming glitches, it took weeks plus several hours on the phone with consultants. Yes, I did call TurboTax once, and that required several hours on an unrelated issue to those previously mentioned. The problem was resolved by the agent, but it shouldn't have occurred in the first place.
