I have used TurboTax for many years and find it relatively easy to use. I have had no audits using TurboTax. That being said, I don't appreciate all the pop-up ads to sell additional products. I feel the ads could be deceiving and especially confusing for older users.

Overall experience was good. I had one specific problem that I hope you can address in future releases. A significant portion of my 2025 taxable income occurred in December, so I processed a corresponding estimated tax payment in that quarter alone. I ended up with a refund due; however, TurboTax calculated an estimated tax underpayment penalty without giving me any indication of the penalty or asking me if a Form 2210 would be appropriate. I caught it while reviewing before e-file, and had to switch to forms mode to force inclusion of the form. Completing the form resulted in the elimination of the penalty.

PROS: This software does a lot of the work for you and I have used it for years. I trust that they have knowledge to get things right in my return. CONS: I have complained about the navigation through fields and they have never change anything. Enter will not go the next field and pop-up scroll window do not scroll with the wheel. Mention it again this year. Also they want you to purchase add-ons as you go through filing which are expensive and 9/10 not needed for my filing. I think they raise the State Efile fee to essentially negate the credit from Sam's.

Terrible experience this year. User of turbotax (TT) for over 20 years. Always had little issues here and there, but this year (tax year 2025) was the WORST! Where to start... 1) after finishing my deductions i get a pop up telling me i qualify and could save big by creating an IRA. So i did. Then after doing that (opening an IRA account for both me and spouse for $8K each) TT tells me, sorry, you don't qualify for an IRA deduction. 2) I enter all my 1099DIV forms which total up to $x. On the summary of income page for the 1099div line is indicates my summary at $y. When i mouse over the total to see what makes up the summary, it gives me $z. All three values were different, one by over $10k. Big impact to my taxable income, but no idea how to fix to the correct amount. 3) I saved my work one evening owing roughly $300 in fed tax. Next morning, I open TT and It now indicates I owe $10K in fed tax. I changed nothing! I should've filed the night before!! 4) Amounts uploaded from brokers and listed in the import section, do not match the amounts reported or listed in the income summary section, or the detail page. 5) Why are you pushing me to the website application? I don't want my data on your website. 6) And what is with the constant upselling throughout? I don't want any of it. Stop asking.

Very good process but just a couple of snags. Myself and others seem to have gotten hung up on the "Canadian pension" issue that may need to be corrected. It appears out of nowhere. See comments. Also there was a note to determine my Capital Loss Carryover for the state return. But there seems to be no help notes offered.

This year was not a good year for TurboTax. Program bugs prevented updates from working; the software had to be removed and re-installed. Forms were not ready until well into 2026 - there is no excuse for not being able to enter Schedule D data and get a reasonable estimate, perhaps based on prior year or tentative tax law, as soon as the early releases are available. The software does not remember choices made on the tail end of forms ("None of these apply"). Thumbnails (for example, of downloaded forms) should show additional details (for example, T,S, or J for 1099s) Some fields generated from downloaded data print so small as to be illegible both on screen and in printed forms. It prompts at every opportunity to sign up for additional services that were previously declined. Really disapointed this year,year.

I was using the guide me feature for everything. It never asked me for Social Security Income. I had go back and enter it manually. I also had to initiate Crypto sell even though I had checked that I had sold Crypto. Another thing is that it carried a direct rollover of an IRA to another institution as income when comparing previous years income to this years. Last years return was clearly marked that it was a direct rollover. It showes that I made over a hundred thousand dollars more last year than I did. I did not pay taxes on it last year, but Turbo tax carried into this years software as income when it compares the two years. Too many things wrong. These are simple errors in the software. Not something complicated. I have been using TurboTax for over 10 years. There always seems to be something it does not do what it should.

Turbo tax used to have "it's deductible" which made summarizing no cash contributions straightforward. Now you have to click multiple times for every item. Turbo tax also used to provide an estimated tax for the next year from your previous year's taxes. Now you have to manually enter the information you already entered for your taxes in the w-4 form calculator. Turbo tax used to have understandable help and descriptions for items you are working on. Now they generally copy the incomprehensible IRS documentation and make you pay extra for live expert advice.

Have used Turbo tax for many years without major filing problems. Had a question or two over the years that were resolved. Big problem this year was with NYS $400 inflation rebate. The return did not address it. I think I figured it out and reported as I thought was the correct way. Turbo Tax should have addressed this issue better and had a question about it. We will see what happens. You said return was 100% correct. We will see.

I have been a customer for years. Getting along in age, I am now at the point where I sell some of my investments. The 1099-B has everything on it, but I found that entering normal, long-term, and short-term gains was tedious because I had to enter the same information three times, instead of one page to cover all inputs for one sale. Also, the RMD data might better be served by starting with the RMD and then asking for the withdrawal information. When drawing from more than one account, I got a little confused and entered the total RMD amount twice. Not a good surprise.
