Shelves are not welded closed properly, meaning they will slide down past the plastic markers used to hold it up. Obviously not how it's supposed to work. Sam's Club Customer Service was no help either. The shelf weighs over 50lbs, but online support wants you to pack it up and bring it all the way back to your nearest club, rather than just replacing the defective part. Heck, even a partial refund for the defective shelf part would've been a better option. Someone's going to put a lot of weight on this shelf and it's going to either snap, crush or otherwise pin something when the shelf doesn't hold.

I purchased this yesterday and today laid out all the pieces as directed. In doing so, found one of the bottom posts was defective in that the threaded insert had been installed in the wrong end and the wheel insert was the incorrect thickness on the other end. We tried to figure out how to make it work if we skipped the double line on the 3 good posts, but they did not line up so the shelves would not be level. I called the number on the back of the instructions and was on hold for 20 minutes and then got auto disconnected. I then called my local store and explained the situation and asked if i could just bring back the defective piece and have someone open another box and give me a good post and return the package by adding the defective piece. She said no, I could bring the whole unit back for refund and purchase another one. She said I might try main Customer Service number for Sam's and so I called them. When I finally got through to a real person, they suggested I call the Members Mark Customer Service No. so I did that. A 30 minute hold until I got a real person. This CSR said they could order me the replacement part through the mfr but it would be 10 to 15 days. I remind you that I have methodically unpacked every component and it is strewn on my garage floor. The other option was to return the entire system and exchange for another unit. He gave me a reference no to do that. I told him I am 75 years old and I would have to load up the individual pieces, (the shelves are very heavy) and then would I have to unload when I got to my store and he said yes. This return system is totally unacceptable. A mfr should expedite shipping of a defective component and Sams should make that part of the Purchasing Agreement they have with a mfr. Rather than take a chance on exchanging a unit and finding another defective or missing component(s), I decided to pick up another unit, bring it home, open the box in the back of my car and get out the post to replace the defective one and then return that system, still in the original packaging, for a refund. At least while still in the box, I could take my neighbor, who would help me lift the 120lb box out of my suv onto a flat cart. I won't be buying anything requiring assembly from Sams again.

I have purchased 8 of these exact shelves and am very satisfied. Out of the eight one did have a bent shelf that was quickly replaced by manufacturer. I have read the negative comments and mostly it seems people don't know how to assemble or assume the plastic seperators used to protect shelves in shipping are actual parts. When you put the poles together sometimes they are not a perfect straight line when combined but once you put the shelves all on the unit is straight every time. The fact that these have plastic shelf liners makes them a fantastic value. If you were to purchase seperately you would spend $40 or more for the shelf liners.I am extremely pleased with these and will probably buy another 6 to 8 units over time.

Received this package in bad shape. It obviously had been opened and returned. Pieces were missing and others had been damaged. Not sure I can make it usable. I am not able to lift the package to move it off my porch less haul it 100 miles to return it to a store. This was shipped by Seville for Sam’s. I have assembled literally dozens of these shelves and have never had issues like this.

The only reason I gave this 4 instead of 5 stars...one shelf was bent when I received it. This wasn't due to shipping damage. The bend shelf was in the middle of the packaging. I was able to support it on the garage floor with a 2x4 and apply some of momma's good old collected cooking (my body weight) and with some carefully applied pressure, you can't really tell it was bent, unless you look really close. Other than that, these are well made, heavy duty and come with the option to use the supplied wheel kit or leveling feet.

Overall very sturdy shelving with plastic shelf liners included! We had one bent shelf that caused a problem while building the unit. It happened to be the first shelf we used which caused one wheel to not touch the floor. After replacing the bent shelf with a good one, the unit was level. Putting the bent shelf on top worked out ok.

I bought several of these for my garage and house in WV. 15 years ago, they worked great I recently bought two for my garage in SC. it's a great unit with the exception that they got cheap with the plastic liner for the self on the old ones it was a nice thick plastic Liner that was durable with the liner these new shelve have your better off without one they are not cut to size and they pull off every time you get something off the shelve, I'm waiting for one to tear any day now.

Prefer prior model with shiny chrome finish and no odor. Current model is a dull looking metal. Odor that lasts for days on shelving pieces and poles. We have yet to have the odor dissipate completely. Poles have what can only describe as old medicine odor on inside. Smelling that made our odor sensitive allergy member ill. Days waiting for it to go away. Sunlight, hot building, soap and water - inside and flushed inside of tubes ... goes down but won't go away. These aren't the racks I bought in the past, of which I have many. The shelves are heavy, the finish is dull, and they give off an odor that has yet to go away. Bought a shelf rack from another website. No odor out the box. Shiny chrome look like prior models of Member's Mark shelving. Replacement rack cost more, had one less shelf, and wider spaced wires on each shelf. Wires look a little thinner too. No odor and can use it right out the box. Done with Member's Mark shelving at this time. If you don't mind the odor, by all means, enjoy. For us, it's an allergy issue.

You can go buy a plastic shelf at other stores for $49-$69 which can hold a couple hundred pounds. This thing can hold 800 pounds with the wheels installed or 6,000 pounds, that 3 TONS, without the wheels. I couldn't make a set of shelves out of wood, that could hold that much for under $100!

I ordered two sets of shelves. Both arrived damaged. One so badly that it could not even be set up. That one was returned. The other was set up and I did not notice until the following week that each of the six shelves also have slight twist or bend in them. It’s not bad enough to cause me the time to dismantle and deal w the return, but still disappointing. I ordered a Seville corner rack at the same purchase time and it was sooo much better quality packing, I believe that the poor shape of the Sams club shelves was partly due to the shortcut of packaging for such a heavy item. I bet there are lots of similar issues for people that have them shipped to their homes.
