Also, the starting temperature of the contents, the temperature surrounding the ice, etc. can all impact the melting point. Ice packs or ice substitutes with a lower freezing point are preferable on extra hot days and starting with already cold contents. Ice packs or ice substitutes can also focus the cold better than loose ice cubes.
