I was not happy with Miracle Garden Soil at all his year!! It was very woody. Many, many sticks in it, some rather large- granted none were big enough to throw for the dog, but nevertheless more wood than soil for sure. I also found quite a few plastic scrapes mixed in and that really irked me. Wow, times sure are tough when you can't even get good dirt . :(

Due to bad advice at a local nursey, I used garden soil in two topsy turvy containers. The worker said the chunkier garden soil would be a good match for topsy turvy. I went back to what is a remote location before seeing the product was not recommended for containers so I went ahead and used it. Do I have a hazardous situation? I was expecting to see clean black soil, like other versions of their soil I have purchased in the past, but instead it reminded me of soil with mulch mixed in. I used the soil to plant different varieties of flowers and the flowers seem to thrive nicely, but I also noticed a lot weeds growing among the flowers also. I probably would not purchase this particular version of soil, as I like the results of other Miracle-Gro potting soil products better.

It doesn't hurt to add some extra ingredients like coffee grounds, egg shells, epson salts, etc. to enrich the soil. I also like that not many weeds spring up from where it is used. Works well and is a great value, especially if you live in an area with sandy soil.
