We love it. We got quotes for as much as $33k to add a pergola to our house, this was a much better option. Took a weekend to build, another 9 hours to stain/paint, but well worth it. I mounted a 32” tv up in the corner and it fits perfect. Would highly recommend.

We took delivery of the 12 x 10 cedar pergola kit in early June. From start to finish, the process has been positive and the end result is the creation of a new peaceful place! Ordering was very simple, delivery arrived a day sooner than expected. The kit came in two boxes. Before assembling, we used a protective sealant. Easy to assemble, quality construction, quality hardware, excellent, easy-to-follow instructions. We added a removable light-filtering tarp on the roof for protection from the mid-day sun, and solar-powered lights on the inside ceiling. We absolutely love the addition to our outdoor space!

My wife and I was looking to dress up our back porch off of our home. We saw this Pergola in a Sam's flyer. It was a nice fit. It allowed my wife to dress up our back porch and provided a wonder place to drink coffee in the morning. It did take longer to build then the manual says and it took three people but it was well worth it. We love it! And we have received many compliments not only from family and friends but even strangers who have pulled in the driveway and told us how nice our porch looks!

BE AWARE that the 12 x 10 does NOT, I repeat, NOT refer to the size of the footprint as I had expected!!! Somewhat disappointed in the finished size of the product, but we will make it work. The manufacturer needs to make it clear about the actual footprint and finished dimensions in their advertising. I plan to also leave a review of this product on whatever website I find it is being sold. Having said that, the actual construction of this product is relatively simple and straightforward.

We love this addition to our backyard. It turned it from a yard to basically another room in our house. When the weather is nice, we hang out there all the time. The outlets are nice because we added Italian wedding lights and it looks like our backyard is a high end restaurant patio!

Started with just myself up thru STEPS 7, then two men for STEPS 8, 11, 14 thru 16, and 18. Most of the entire family joined in from this point on. Preliminary assembly and assembly-STEPS 1 thru 7, 9 thru 10, 12 thru 13, and 17 I did in my garage while waiting for HOA approval and concrete slab completion. (The good news is, there were no missing/damaged parts, save for what I considered to be minor blemishes in the surface of three different boards. Upon final assembly, there were no shortages and surplus in nearly all of the hardware parts). We chose to pre-stain everything from this point forward in the installation. 1st complaint: The sum of the various lap-joints does not produce the same thickness as the original board. Note: Depending on your selection of stains, this can be less noticeable in the final assembly. 2nd complaint: The depth of the lap-joints is often inconsistent, resulting in gaps as large as 1/8 inch. I know of no easy way to camouflage this, Note: I consider both of these complaints to be the result of a quality-control problem. If you choose to follow the Manual (Anchoring Layout pg-3, as we did), this can result in some of the Posts not standing perfectly vertical. To the critical eye, this can be annoying. Suggestion: Follow the Manual (Anchoring Layout pg-3) for a starting point, but before anchoring the base of any Post, tighten all hardware except those affecting the Post alignment. Then, make any fine-tune vertical alignments to the Posts using a carpenter’s level. (If everything has been done correctly up to this point, this should be very minimal). Lastly, anchor the Posts. Caution: I didn’t pay enough attention to the location of the pre-drilled holes in the JOIST and ended up with some of the pre-drilled holes facing down instead of up and on the outside instead of the inside (or vise-versa) of the POST. This will extend the installation time no matter how you choose to solve it. 3rd complaint: Neither of the inside POST (POST P03) were pre-drilled for the CORBEL on one side only as they should have been. Note: This I consider to be another quality-control issue. 4th complaint: Because there is no staggering of the lengths of the PURLINs, all the joints fall on a single SLOTTED-JOIST at each splice point. This leaves you with no attachment to the PURLINs to those two particular SLOTTED-JOIST leaving them less stable than the others. I chose to replace the PURLIN splicing bolt, nut, and washer in four staggered locations across the length of these tow JOIST with a 3” long - ¾” lag bolt and washer making the splice point serve as the anchor point to the JOIST in those four locations. If you are anchoring your Pergola to concrete, I discovered that dipping the concrete anchor screws in thick liquid soap such as hair shampoo before driving them will keep them from seizing up during driving. (Learned this the hard way).

This pergola, along with the shipping time & process of ordering has not disappointed. It is an awesome addition to our backyard patio. Quality materials and detailed instructions. We are actually looking to purchase a second one to go over a hot tub.

The product itself seems to be a great product, but the included assembly through Go Configure leaves a lot to be desired. A piece was broken during transport, so I was left with a partially constructed pergola on my patio and the team on site said they had to report to their supervisor. The supervisor of the local company submitted the report and GoConfigure sends me an email saying their team had to "investigate" this which generally takes two business days, starting Friday over a Holiday weekend. When I called for more details I was told they could not give me any timeframe, because Go Configure is a separate company than Backyard Discovery (despite their name and number appearing on the cardboard boxes the pergola came in.) Backyard Discovery had previously been very helpful and so I chose to call them directly. They immediately noticed my order and prior registration and told me they would FedEx me the broken part and it would arrive in 2-4 days. Honestly I'm furious because if I had called the manufacturer the day we found it was broken I could have finished this myself and gotten to enjoy the pergola for at least half of my holiday weekend, rather than watching the pieces left in my lawn slowly kill my grass. Good product, great manufacturer service from Backyard Discovery, but terrible customer service from Go Configure.

Have had it for about a month. Put it up in two days; assembled the sides and cross members myself then had help, four of us, stand the sides up in place then fasten the crossmembers with one bolt to keep in place. The next day I permanently fastened the crossmembers, then put the joists and purlins up. Everything fit together very well, accurate holes drilled. Extra fasteners provided are always appreciated as it is easy to drop and lose something. Added fan and propane heater to complete. Very pleased with our purchase.

The pergola itself is fine. It has some weird gaps in the joinery as you might expect from something manufactured in China. But both the customer support team and the assembly folks were great. Very responsive, very friendly, very quick to resolve issues. I would buy from them again just because the customer service was exceptional
