The open and close buttons started to fade 3 days in. I don't think this trash can is made with any quality control. They have an insert to email them before returning which I did and they told me to just return it..

It's great…when the lid works. If there is even a spec of dust or dirt is on the inside of the lid/top of trash can that touches the lid, the lid won't open. We have switched batteries and the only thing that works is spraying it down daily. We aren't that dirty, it is just so sensitive and this is a trash can so of course crumbs or something will eventually touch the lid. We will be returning.

I really wanted to love this trash can because it looks sleek and modern, but I'm disappointed in the quality. We've only had it for a couple of months and the motion sensor already stopped working. I've changed the batteries multiple times and it still won't open consistently. For the price, I expected it to last much longer than this. Very frustrating.
