I was very happy with the quality of this mattress, given that it is MUCH cheaper than almost every other foam mattress on the market. It is firm enough for young babies, but also seems comfortable enough for toddlers. The mattress inflated in under an hour and my baby slept in it that night. It is also easy to transport, as it comes in a box.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It really is a full size foam crib mattress in a box and it's awesome! When I first saw it I thought, "Whoah, there's a full sized crib mattress in there?" And there most definitely is! 1. It is vacuum-sealed and coiled around itself inside of a tight plastic casing and so when you first unroll it allow it to lay flat. It says it meets federal regulations for being flame retardant, and it comes with a covering that appears to be an additional safety barrier. 2. Is has a strong odor, probably from the flame retardant materials, so I would put it in a place with good ventilation while it expands and then put it on your child’s toddler bed frame or crib. If you’re not pressed for time, I would recommend waiting a full week before allowing your child to sleep on it. The odors dissipate significantly by then. 3. Give it a full 24 hours to expand to its maximum size. I put it next to my other daughter's coil mattress (which I got from Wal-Mart and like a lot) shortly after opening it and it was like half the depth of an average crib mattress. I checked the mattress a few hours later and it expanded considerably. By the next day it had completely expanded to the same size of my daughter’s coil mattress. I thought I liked the coil mattresses, but this foam mattress has become my favorite. It is firm yet plush. Being that this mattress is foam and does NOT come with a plastic covering, I would STRONGLY recommend putting a moisture barrier or pad over it that sops up leaks and spills. How do you clean a foam mattress and keep odors from permeating it? I would imagine after a few urine incidents the foam mattress would start to have a not-so-pleasant odor. So, avoid having to do deal with that scenario by just buying a moisture resistant cover and placing that on top of the mattress and under your crib sheet.

I dread writing this post, but find it necessary to warn other moms (or others who do the laundry), as well as solicit any advice or solutions, about a very drawn out (and continuing) textile nightmare. Months ago, my oldest daughter complained about incredibly itchiness all over her body. Coming from a family of food allergy prone kids and adults alike, I immediately assumed it was her diet, as we have had food allergy problems before. We did an immediate food withdrawal of a few foods, started her on Zyrtec and Benadryl It didn't get better over time. It was a 24 hour itchiness that affected her entire morning, noon, and night. Slowly, we believed it not from an internal cause, but an external cause. Her clothes. She seemed much better when she ran around the house in her birthday suit. Also, when both my husband and I noticed the intense itchiness when we put on certain clothes, we were certain. Obviously, we thought it was the detergent (which for the past 2 1/2 years had caused no problems). Maybe it was a bad batch, or a new formula? We switched to another free and clear brand. No change. I washed with only baking soda. No change. Eventually, I only used hot water washes. No change. Next, I thought it was the washer itself. It was one of those new water saver washer that didn't have a middle agitator. Instead, it sprayed out water through holes and swirled it around. While we had had no problems from the first few months, maybe it was not cleaning as well as it should and left residues or allergens behind. One day, my husband noticed a sparkly material all over a pair of black flannel pants. "What's this???" It looked like residue from an ugly tinsel Christmas sweater...little innocent sparkly specks settled in the fibers, which were visible only on dark clothes. Fast forward many weeks and itchy loads later. After many more trials, errors, and failures, all while in the midst of potty training (which, at one point, made me think it was residue poo poo infecting our clothes), my daughter one time peed a gallon of urine all over her mattress. For the second time since we had purchased it months ago, I stripped the Graco foam mattress of its three layers, tossed those sheets in the wash, vinegared the foam, rubbed it clean, and set it out to dry. The load with the layers was washed, tumbled dry, and tossed in the living room floor to fold. My husband dutifully folded the mountains of clothes when suddenly, he exclaimed, "It's the mattress cover!!!" We found out that one of the layers (sandwiched between the top layer and waterproof layer) was a flame retardant fiberglass layer. The little sparkles were none other than fiberglass. These little monsters had clung tenaciously to our clothes, sheets, towels, jackets, rags...you name it, they flocked and set up house. They are hard to see on light clothing. So, when you put on an undershirt, it's hard to notice at first. Eventually, the fiberglass interact with your skin, and cause an intense itchiness. Some of the pieces, since they are glass, burrows into your skin so that you are terribly itchy even after you remove the clothes. Thus, the culprit. To our great dismay, we had been infected every article of clothing that we had ever washed since the that fiberglass sheet had been introduced into our washer and dryer. The glass clung to the washing bowl...to the crevices of the dryer...to the little holes and nooks and crannies. And every time an unaffected piece of clothing entered into the washer, or was washed and dried with an affected piece of clothing...it also became an enemy too. For the past two weeks, we have slowly discovered the dreadful reality that everything we suspected had every been washed was now a carrier. We are also in the process of replacing our 6 month new washer and dryer, as well as every article of suspected clothing. It has been more difficult than I thought. Stores no longer carry warm clothes as the spring arrivals come. I find it extremely sad to throw away my favorite puffer jacket from Old Navy...or all my comfortable pants that simply fit my short frame when most pants drag the floor like wedding dress trains. What is most saddening is seeing my daughter's body flaring up with rashes and itches...and trying to do a massive clothes purge, but having nothing but spring clothes to replace it. Someone said to me, "Wow, you get a new wardrobe for your family!" Personally, I would rather cut fat off of chicken meat than go clothes shopping. Does this seem extreme? Honestly, I feel it is...but after trying many techniques to rid us of this fiberglass (vacuums, lint rollers, packing tape, rubber brushes, 8 rewashes of the same load, and many many failed attempts that have led to our affected clothes infecting our unaffected clothes), my husband and I have argued and collaborated that this is the only solution to isolate the problem. We called Graco, and though they are familiar with this occurence, skirted the problem and blamed the consumer. "Didn't you read the warning sign?" There is no warning sign by the way. "We aren't responsible. We only license it."

Wont be using until baby gets here in a few months. Will be my first time using a foam mattress. Followed instructions, after opening sat it in the crib, it expanded to 5 inches and its really firm. Because of other reviews causing concern saying one of the covers is fiberglass I am not sure if I will use either cover. An may purchase a completely different one.

This seems like a great mattress for a great price that my baby will sleep on very well. However, I had problems with my mattress expanding to correctly fill the crib. After leaving it out for a week with no covers and extra ventilation, it was still too short to fill the width of the crib, leaving a 1 1/2" wide gap. I called the manufacturer and requested another one, which I had to call a few times about to actually get it shipped to me, and the new mattress had the same problem. I ended up contacting Walmart.com and requesting a refund, which they promptly gave me. I ended up keeping the mattress and cutting a piece of foam from the replacement and including it in the mattress casing to fill the gap. If you don't mind potentially filling the gap in the crib with something else, it is a great mattress. This seems to be a common problem with this mattress, but not every review I read had this problem.

The mattress expanded as it should, didn't have any problems. It comes with a flimsy slip cover to go over the foam, a fire-resistant cover, and a mattress protector. Three separate covers all with zippers. I washed all the covers before putting in my daughters bedroom. I couldn't tell which cover it was, not the protector, but one of them sheds fibers quite significantly. My couch is covered! and sparkles from all the fibers (I assume polyester, but not 100% sure as the fire resistant one doesn't have a label on it to state what it is made of). Aside from that, the smell of chemicals that the foam is made of is STRONG! I let it sit for a week before putting it in her room, I thought the smell went away for the most part, but it's still bad enough to notice when I walk in her room. The quality of the mattress is great. I even feel she is sleeping better as opposed to the one we did have. I just wish the smell would go away faster (its been 3 weeks, its getting better but still there).

Has good support, yet is very comfy for my 21 month old grandson. He falls asleep quickly and sleeps contentedly through the night. My one dislike is that it's not as thick as I'd hoped - more like 4 1/2", so crib sheets don't tend to stay smooth and tight, but since he's not a newborn it's not really too bad - just annoys me!

Mattress is a great alternative to the cheap spring mattresses. For the price, it's the best we could find at a reasonable price. We were using it for a toddler bed with a two year old and feel confident it is firm enough for safety, but soft enough for comfort. That being said, I'm not sure I would trust it for a newborn with as soft as it is.

I have had to buy several mattresses for my my kids and they all end in ruin either from the inner springs poking the kids or the outer cover getting ripped open from toddles jumping in the crib. This not only is affordable but has no springs and comes with a removable soft cottony cover that has a plastic lining underneath so you don't have to buy a separate protective cover for this comfy bed. I had purchased one to test it on my 1 1/2 yo and will get another for 5yo!

The mattress that goes inside this crib flips AMAZING and fits my baby's crib perfectly. Both sides are very soft and smooth, reassuring for my child's skin. So, it will fit your child regardless of sleeping position or activity. It is very sturdy but not too stiff. Rest assured that it won't get awkward when lying on it for a long time like some brands I've used. It's a great crib mattress and I feel like it will last a long time. Easy to clean and universal size makes it easy to buy bed sheets, I don't even have trouble keeping the bed sheets on the mattress. I highly recommend it.
