Hi, Joyce! We 're so glad you're happy with the instant bone broth! I'm happy to address the concerns about sodium.
Our instant bone broth is designed to be a protein snack that also provides hydration. Sodium is essential to providing hydration, and in the case of our instant broth, most of the sodium comes from bakers yeast extract, which is essential to the flavor.
Our philosophy is to create nourishing foods using simple and consciously sourced ingredients.
The majority of the sodium occurs naturally from the ingredients used, not the addition of salt. When creating our products, we always start with low sodium and work our way to what believe is the best taste. Because of the savory/umami expectation from consumers, it’s very difficult to create a broth that actually tastes good and that is truly low sodium.
Additionally, all salt is not created equal. We do not use iodized salt, and only add a small amount of sea salt solely for the nutritional benefit of the added minerals. Natural sea salt used sparingly can provide a plethora of health benefits including, but not limited to, strengthening the immune system, a huge benefit for those older in age.
We believe a small amount of quality salt provides significantly more benefit than harm.
