Every year, Filippo Berio’s Olive Oil Masters travel the Mediterranean region in search of quality olive oils, whose distinct characteristics it is believed will contribute to our signature and world-renowned olive oil blend. These Masters, akin to Wine Sommeliers, ultimately taste nearly 6,000 olive oil samples, of which only 10% qualify for potential inclusion in our blend. We source oils from 5 of the largest and most well-respected Mediterranean olive oil producing countries – Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal and Tunisia. Having access to such a broad source of quality oils allows us to provide consistently delicious flavors for our consumers worldwide. It’s something consumers expect and something our Olive Oil Masters, who are accomplished in the art of blending, deliver year after year despite any variations that may occur during the major olive oil production stages of growing cultivating, harvesting and milling. We do, however, bottle an Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil that is certified to strict USDA organic standards and has a medium fruity flavor with almond and green tomato notes. We also bottle a 100% Italiano Extra Virgin Olive Oil Produced using only the best ITALIAN olives. It has a very intense fruity flavor with notes of ripe olives, just cut grass and green tomatoes along with a slightly spicy almond aftertaste.
