If you’re into movies and want that true theater vibe but don't want to live in a cave, this is a serious contender. But let's be real, this is also a gaming monster. It rocks a native 120Hz refresh rate but can push up to 165Hz with VRR, plus it has all the bells and whistles like G-Sync and FreeSync. The picture quality is phenomenal—deep blacks, excellent contrast, and a clean, vibrant image that looks fantastic no matter what I’m watching. Everything feels quick and responsive, and after a couple of weeks of daily use, the performance has been consistently excellent. From a pure viewing standpoint, this TV absolutely delivers. Where it falls short is in the gallery experience, which was a major reason I chose this model. During my research, I reviewed what appeared to be the gallery functionality for this TV, but after purchase I realized much of that content reflected the previous version of LG’s Gallery rather than the current Gallery Plus. The current implementation is more limited and seems to remove support for truly static images and other features that previously existed. I haven’t found a way to restore the older version, which was disappointing. Customization options could also be improved. More control over gallery behavior and system settings would better match the premium nature of the TV and elevate the overall experience. Overall, the LG 83” G5 offers incredible picture quality and strong performance, and I’m very happy with it as a TV. With improvements to the gallery software and deeper customization options, it could easily be a five-star product.

The 65 inch G5 model comes with a wall mount bracket to install it in your preferred room, so make sure you consider the right location and height you prefer to get this LG TV installed. LG has available some install videos to help you do this easily. After mounting the TV, we connected and turned it on to start the setup, which was quick and easy. Remember connecting it to your Internet, so you get the latest WebOS updates. Also, the G5 comes with a magic remote with a simplified button layout, allowing the AI to help you customize your needs and shortcuts for your convenience. All the apps worked fine (either preinstalled or downloaded) and customizing your app ribbon is very simple to do. We tried a couple of streaming services with fast loading times and for movies the G5 is ready to change to filmaker mode, one of the best LG features. There is a new short settings menu that can be customized with shortcuts, but as always, LG brings the full settings availables for picture modes, audio and input options you can freely adjust to your own choice. Picture quality is top of the line and does not dissapoint, even in SDR or HDR, LG G5 model delivers a great and rich image with smooth movement. This smoothness reaches its pinnacle on the gaming mode, allowing the TV reach a max 165Hz of refresh rate with a low input lag and an amazing experience. Overall, LG OLED EVO G5 TV delivers an incredible experience with an excellent picture quality, Dolby Atmos capability, and it is a great option for gamers. LG G5 can be considered one of the best OLED products of the year.

The picture quality is absolutely stunning. We use it for gaming on a PS5 (which is phenomenal), movies and watching sports. It was a great upgrade for our home.

Blacks are truly black, colors look natural not oversaturated, and HDR content looks like something you’d see in a high-end theater. The brightness surprised me too. Most OLEDs struggle in bright rooms but this one holds up perfectly during the day with windows open.

Even though it’s a larger 83" model, it turned out to be the perfect size for my space. I didn’t even have to move the existing wall mount — it fit right in, which made the transition incredibly easy. In terms of performance, the improvement is immediately noticeable. The colors are more vivid and lifelike, and the boost in peak brightness is significant. Everything just looks better — movies, games, even everyday content. The G5 feels like a meaningful leap forward, not just a minor refresh. The only downside had nothing to do with the TV itself. The “free installation” through Angi was a letdown; they rescheduled multiple times and never followed through. I ended up installing it myself, which wasn’t ideal but got the job done. Overall, the G5 83 Inch is a fantastic product and a clear step up from the G2. If you’re considering upgrading, this model is absolutely worth it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've become a huge LG fan for the past five years after going from a C2 OLED to the out of this world G5 OLED. There is simply no comparison as the G5 is like a work of art. I cannot belive how literal works of art look like they are still in the museum on the G5! Set up is very easy, and if you have a receiver and amazing speakers, this will work hand in hand. The speakers on the G5 are really great, but nothing beats having a quality receiver and speakers to get the most. The better the sound, the better the picture qualiy shines through. We all know that in theaters audiences will forgive a under quality picture screen, but the minute the sound gets wonky, they will scream out about it. This is my early holiday gift to myself and family (but who am I kidding, it's all for me!) and it has gotten me in the holiday spirit much earlier than usual. So picture quality, value, and sound quality all get high marks for me. If you're feeling like you need a real treat (and serve one) this year, the G5 will check all the boxes for you.

I was genuinely excited for the LG G5 65-inch — on paper, it checks every box. Unfortunately, I still can’t comment on picture quality, brightness, motion handling, or gaming performance. The reason is simple: the “out-of-box experience” hasn’t progressed past the box. Without a functioning setup, the core strengths of the TV remain purely theoretical. For a premium product at this price point, the inability to even reach a first-use experience is extremely disappointing. I hope future buyers have a smoother path from purchase to actually seeing the screen turn on.
