They are batteries and they work. I don't notice any major difference between them and another pair, other than availability and price depending on the store. The two battery pack seems a little bizarre and unnecessary since rarely is someone looking for just 2 batteries at a time. You buy a pack knowing several devices will die together or you will need backups.
