Pros:
(1) Easy to set up and use. Requires phone Stealthcam app %26 creating an account. Set up outside with open access to the sky.
(2) App has a range of adjustments that can be made, such as time of operation (e.g., 24 hours or just specific hours), megapixels of each photo, delay between photos, single shot or burst, low/high sensitivity, etc.
(3) User can open the app and have a photo send to the phone on demand.
(4) Low light performance is good.
(5) Cameras can be "shared" with other people so they can view the photos too at no extra cost.
(6) Viewing of plans, fees, etc. is easy from the app. Cameras can be easily suspended, canceled, removed, etc. Plans can be upgraded or downgraded.
(7) Contrary to what some users say, these cameras CAN BE USED WITHOUT A PAID DATA PLAN with a caveat (keep reading). Without a plan, photos won't upload to the app on your phone, but the camera will keep taking photos. Caveat: I have activated cameras with the FREE month, then cancelled them at the end of the 30 days. The cameras continued to take photos. I just had to retrieve the SD card from the camera and view the photos on my laptop. Like an "old-fashioned" (dumb) game camera. I don't know if the cameras take photos out of the box without first applying a plan. That's why the free month is valuable.
Cons:
(1) Customer support is mediocre at best. Long, long waits for phone calls. Unanswered emails. Communication challenges.
(2) Even with the sensitivity setting adjusted, I get phantom photos with nothing in them.
(3) The "free" 30 days of uploads does not always apply when activating a camera. Contact with customer support is necessary. Then, the user must upload proof of purchase AND a screenshot of the Sam's Club page showing the complimentary month of service. I bought four cameras that had 60 days free service (it is now only 30). The free service did not apply and I was charged for four cameras (unlimited). They would not cancel or refund those charges. They would only add 60 days to the one month I bought. I was not happy because I had planned to use them only during the 60-day free period and deactivate them at the end of hunting season. Money wasted.
(4) Stealthcam could do a better job explaining the fee structure here on the Sam's Club webpage. The poor description contributes to customer confusion. That said, the use of the word "cellular" in the title should give a clue that a fee pay apply. Here are the fees as of 1/21/26: 600 photos per month for $5; 1200 photos for $8.00; Unlimited for $20 (additional cameras on the unlimited plan are lower...in the $11 to $15 range per extra camera).
(5) Cameras cannot be swapped out if they are acting up. A plan can't be transferred to another camera from within the app. A call to customer service is necessary.
My rating of 3 stars is based on my assessment of the pros and cons. Very good value and actual performance if you can get over the hiccups.
