[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Horrible noise coming fro inside machine. Just found out this most be a known problem since I found many video's on YouTube about folks having the same issue. Very disappointed since this ice machine was not cheap.

The first one worked for about a day, and literally came to a grinding halt. The replacement wouldn't even turn on. These machines are a terrible design and Im really surprised Sams Club is allowing them to be sold. Pay attention to the reviews, it isn't just a few bad apples, it is just an overall bad product. (The Opal customer service didn't even try to have me get it repaired, they told me to send it back within 30 seconds of the phone call)

I have purchased %26 returned this item 3 times within a year all for the same exact issue, it makes the ice but after 3days to a week out of nowhere it starts whining out of control, even when turned off it still continues whining, it will need to be unplugged for it to stop. I have videos i would like to submit but this review only allows photos. After the 3rd time, i returned the item and went with a different brand..

Both ice makers made incredibly loud squealing noises on day one. Occasionally made ice, but more often than not, it only made noise. Tried using GE's recommended “solution” of cleaning with vinegar to descale my brand new ice maker. Look on YouTube and you will see so many videos about squealing GE ice makers. It is frustrating GE doesn't stand behind their product.

Purchased one for my wife for Christmas, that one lasted 10 days before it had a horrible screeching sound. We returned that one and exchanged it for another. That one didn't even make it a day before it was making the same noise. We even did the cleaning cycle multiple times (on both new machines) and this didn't help either. We used triple filtered soft water, so very highly doubt the problem was lime buildup in 2 brand new machines. The 2nd one will be going back tomorrow when the store opens.

I've been addicted to eating Sonic ice for almost 20 years. I think I've single-handedly kept them in business with my frequent purchases of cups and bags of ice. Well, my husband just got me this beautiful machine for Christmas and I am head over heels! It's sleek, not loud, and most importantly, I can chew away on this soft ice all day every day without making a Sonic run. It's identical (if not better??) than all the best, softest, most chewable ice I've ever found. If you are an ice-eating addict, this machine is for you!

I really loved this ice maker until it stopped working less than 3 months after purchasing it. It was working fine at first. We kept it clean and descaled. Recently, it just stopped making ice and kept saying we needed to add water even when the reservoir was full. We drained it, cleaned it again, refilled it and the same thing happened again. Apparently, others have had the same problem. So, we returned it. I will miss my nugget ice.

I loved our ice maker until it quit after 1 1/2 years! I bought the additional warranty but it was useless! I've called several times, got the run around, been on hold…..still no positive response. Warranty company said check with manufacturer, manufacturer said their warranty is only 1 year. I've done everything they told me %26 when I turn it on, it makes ice for about an hour then water runs down inside back of machine, melting available ice! I do not recommend this product!

We love this icemaker, it was fast producing ice and the ice was perfect. After about a month, we got a low water indication and it stopped making ice. We drained and cleaned it and it started working again. Two weeks later and the same thing. Again I was able to resolve the issue. Now it is exactly 2 months old and it happened again, but this time I could not get it to work again. Sam's is excellent and is processing an exchange. We will get a replacement, but our confidence took a major hit. After reading about similar issues, I am concerned how this product is going to age. It is very expensive to fail after only two months and it seems to be happening to others.
