[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This review is about the LG model LSEL6335F electric smooth top slide-in range. This range was a replacement for an 18-year-old Kitchen Aide electric smooth top which was considered the premium model when originally purchased. My comments are written for those who are reading reviews to consider purchasing this LG range model. That said, it’s hard to find anything critical to say about the model, its solidly build, with excellent fit, finish, and style. I rated it overall a “4” only because I have no experience with its reliability over an extended period. If it holds up, then I’d say it’s a “5”. We’ve used the range for only three weeks and have not yet used all its features. Here are my observations so far:
• The range arrived in a heavy duty corrugated box. It was properly protected/supported inside the box so no in-transit damage occurred. Installation instructions are clear and easy to follow.
• The construction of the range is heavy duty and of obvious high quality throughout. This applies to the range top, control knobs and touchpad, oven door, oven cavity, and the bottom drawer.
• The bottom drawer slides are solid and easily operate. The drawer is a tad small as the available space was used for the cavernous oven.
• The oven cavity glazing, and oven racks are of high quality. The oven light does a good job of filling the cavity. The oven door is solid and well balanced in operation.
• We found the oven thermostat settings to be accurate and were spot on when preparing several familiar roasting and pastry bake recipes.
• The oven fan runs continuously and provides very even roasting/baking. We did notice frozen pizza cook times about 10% quicker. The fan exhausts some heat through the right-side vent trim at the rear of the cooktop when the oven is in operation.
• The oven cavity box is very well insulated and it takes noticeably longer to cool down than the range it replaced. I assume this adds to energy efficiency/savings during a bake.
• When you turn the oven on, it takes 8 minutes to hit 350 and 10 minutes to hit 400.
• Roasting spatters easily wipe off the interior oven glazing and interior window with a soapy dish washing cloth. We have not tried the oven cleaning features as nothing has baked on yet. It’s really easy to wipe out the oven due to no exposed heating elements on the floor of the oven cavity.
• Touch controls are easy to use and intuitive when programming. It does take a firm touch to input data on the touch pad compared to the old range.
• The cooktop dials are smooth in operation and also feel solid in use. The lock out feature is a must to keep children from turning on the easily reached controls for the cooktop and oven.
• In hindsight, we should have purchased the model with backlite knobs as it is difficult to see the knob settings without a lot of light. The knobs are in a relatively upright position which causes this to be a problem in low light.
• The glass cooktop is set in a deep enough recess that a pot boil over will not run over and down the sides of the cooktop. Cleanup of the glass cooktop is also very easy.
• Burners heat quickly when turned to the full power setting.
• The vent trim at the rear of the cook top cannot be removed for cleaning without pulling the range away from the wall and removing several screws. Cooking spatter collects under/inside the vent trim and is difficult to clean out. This is my only criticism so far.
I would agree with the favorable comments provided by other reviewers of this model. The design, features, and construction were well thought out and implemented in manufacturing. It’s a great product to use and is definitely and upgrade from our old range.
