Super-gluing the magnet casings together with a few drops each (during assembly) and keeping the unit tight when installing it over the doorframe will optimize the mechanics of closing. Also, reinforcement of the velcro with better upholstery grade tacks will prevent sagging and ripping. The black will fade to gray over time, but it does stop flying insects very well.

The Magic Mesh works great and does exactly what it claims to do. However, we have an aluminum doorframe and quickly learned that the small velcro stickers that attach the screen to the frame were too weak to be effective--they peeled off easily and the mesh fell under its own weight. We corrected this by buying larger strips of heavy-duty velcro at a hardware story and using them to replace the strips that came with the kit, after which it worked so well that it quickly became a summer necessity! The repair job we did was easy and inexpensive, and we like our Magic Mesh, but it seemed a shame we had to spend extra money--even if it was only five more bucks--to get the product to function as it should.

I can see this coming in handy during backyard bbq parties with our families. I am interested to see how it holds up over time as I could see the potential of it not holding up with such constant use. So far, so good!

Save your money! This by far was the biggest waste of time and effort putting this thing up. I was trying to be thrifty and save some money in the end it only added an extra $20! My poor dogs needed a doggy door and I saw the commercial for the mesh. I bought the mesh and it was kind of time consuming putting it up( it looked so easy on tv) haha, once I had it up it was as if the those"powerful" magnets were junk! The magnets I have on my fridge are far superior then the ones that came with the mesh. So needless to say it wouldn't close by itself and I would end up with a house full of flies . In the end I had to break down and buy the doggy door and wasted the 20 bucks on the not so magic mesh.

I was super happy when I received it in the mail. I put it up right away. I was upset because within a few uses, the magnets started falling out. The magnets were not securely put in to the holders. We had to reinforce the holders with tape to keep the magnets from falling out. I would not recommend purchasing this.

The magnets are strong so you still need to use your hands to get through it. That was the only down side. It’s great if you just want to use it to keep bugs out though. A great temporary solution for screen doors and for hosting parties.

I bought this over the summer, it was very easy to install, but the magnets keep popping off the screen, I wish they had glued them together when They made the item, it rips at the top and bottom of the screen very easily, and does not stay closed on windy days. I would not recommend this if you are putting it in a "busy" door way.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Magic Mesh hands free screen door is a game changer. We live in Texas and love to entertain indoors and out but Texas means lots of bugs. So it’s so nice to be able to have an easy flow to move in and out of the house without worrying if a bunch of bugs are coming in. Also eliminates a lot of me yelling for my kids to shut the door ha because as soon as you walk through the mesh closes itself. It was easy to install and works great!

I got this product at the local walmart and love this item. I had trouble at first with the velcro sticking but then I attached the push pens that came with it. It is still up and still working as showed. My dogs at first didn't understand but now go in and out with no problems.

For $12, this thing goes beyond expectations. Definitely keeps the flying buggies out. Easy to install, and can also be adjusted with a little savviness. You can add more of your own double sided adhesive and also use a staple gun to secure even better. I however didn't do that yet, and we have been having gnarly winds in the past week since I bought it. Great buy!
