I didn't try without, but I'm sure that you can use without any shaving cream and it'll work just fine with water. Although the stand comes in handy, I didn't really use it.

The built-in exfoliating bar actually makes a difference, it clears away the gunk before the blades even hit your face. Shaving feels super smooth and there’s no irritation afterward. And its holder for easy access makes it so much better than trying to remember where it was last placed . Great value for out of this park design !

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ll be honest, I’m biased in my review because I use a safety razor and I’m partial to that, but I can say this still has a very nice shave for it being a cartridge. The handle is very heavy and feels good as well. The main drawback is that the exfoliating bar makes your face feel VERY SLIMY. I was not a fan of the slime at all but other than that, if you like cartridge razors, I don’t see why you shouldn’t buy this. It also comes with a nice base

I have a thick beard and it went right thru my 2 day stubble. Handle is easy to hold and the blade glides nice around your neck and jaw area. Very smooth shave with no razor burn. Razor handle is backed by a lifetime warranty.

Been using for a week and this has not disappointed me. I have spent a lot of money finding a perfect razor and after many years and pain of trial and error... This is the best investment. This will be taking the place of my Sensor 3 as it is hands down the far better product and the price difference is minimal considering the amount of uses I have gotten.
