I reviewed the complete system but also wanted to let Members know that the collar is really the best element. This unit is very small with the strap built into the electronics casing. My dog does not even know it's there (unless he challenges the boundary). My batteries last more than a month and they are fairly inexpensive. The built in shock tester is a very useful feature, one that I have not seen on other brands. The collar is also waterproof which comes in handy since we live at the beach. We usually take the collar off when we take Jake swimming but sometimes we forget. The collar still works even after getting a workout in saltwater. Also, the training tones are louder than other units I looked at. The manufacturer states in the manual that this results in faster training which in my experience seems to be true. We are very happy with the Humane Contain 8000 Plus system largely because it has a very good collar.

I expected to be disappointed but took the chance only because I have never been let down on a purchase from Sams and I'm glad I did. I installed this on top of the ground with lawn staples and it was very fast and easy, and the wire was much thicker than I expected or what I saw on the shelf at other retail stores. My dog loves the freedom and always stays clear of his boundaries, and we are all very happy.

we bought an "electric collar" for our new dog. It works great w/ the electric fence system that we have already installed. The product has increased the value of our lives as we can now allow ALL dogs to go in/out freely. Also, customer service was very helpful w/ the purchase.

We purchased the Humane System and extra collars to replace our professionally installed electronic fence. (See my review of the HC-8000 plus dog fence). The Humane Contain collar is smaller, lighter in weight and has a built in stimulus and battery tester with LED. The collars have survived swims in the pool and very "ruff" treatment from the dogs. The batteries are lasting more than two months. That's twice as long as the collars that came with our old system. We are very happy with the professional quality of these products which is surprising considering the very reasonable price.

This is a very well made collar. As I stated in my review of the fence itself, all the rain up here has not affected its operation. It is small, light-weight and seems to be quite comfortable on the dog. After a year of operation it's still going strong.

The collar works well. My dogs have learned to stop when they hear the beep before the shock. They know what comes after the beep. A flashing LED tells you the battery is good. The battery inserts easily into the collar. 1 of my dogs gets into his pool with the collar on. Although it never gets completely submerged, it does get very wet, but continues to work (more than a year later). The collar is very durable, but the strap is suseptable to "tearing" on an active dog. I have had to replace straps about evry 7-8 months. Strap replacement is easy though. Contact the manufacturer and they will replace it free of charge (including shipping). The coating over the prongs has worn off and irritated 1 dogs neck., so we remove the collars at night while the dogs are indoors. We also remove the battery to conserve power.

Since May 2009, we have purchased 11 collars for our 3 Cairn Terriers. The collars just don't last very well. During this time we also purchased 60 batteries. It seems that when the collars start to go, they burn up batteries. 2 or 3 times, we received collars that we had to exchange for good ones within 90 days. Sams Club customer service is absolutely the best, they got us new collars as fast as humanly possible. For us, this system is expensive to maintain batteries and collars, but if it weren't for this fence system, we wouldn't be able to have dogs at all. Since 2 collars come with the fencer unit, we bought a new system a few times because it was cheaper than buying the collars separately. Now we have a back up controller, but we have never had a problem with the system, and we installed a second controller in an area where the dogs were destroying my flowers and digging under the deck and I am extremely happy to have this solution. They learned very quickly where they can't go and I even included our back deck. Now I can sit on my dog-hair free back deck. Overall, I have no choice but to deal with the cost because the system works so well and this system is the main reason we have a Sams Club membership because the prices for this unit is cheaper at Sam's than anywhere. Also, when I buy from Sam's the product is delivered incredibly fast.

I bought this collar as my fourth one with Humane Contain - and my dog is only 4 years old and a mostly "inside" dog and not hard on the collar. This collar is re-designed and I am hoping that it is an improvement over the other model which I was very disappointed with since I had to replace it three times. I like that the beeps are louder than the previous model. I don't like the proprietary batteries - the other model batteries could be found for cheap. My only other reservation is that the collar has sometimes beeped inside the house nowhere near the fence. The company's answer is that the collar shouldn't be worn inside the house - major hassle to put it on and off several times a day. But, when I turned the boost off on the fence box and shortened the range - it seems to have stopped happening.

I bought the Humane Contain underground fence system for two chihuashuas and a Mastiff/Rottweiler mix five month old puppy. I searched everywhere trying to find a system that would work for both the little dogs and the giant breed. This system came with two collars and I was able to purchase an additional collar for half the cost of the other systems.

I have had to replace the collars for my two dogs twice in one year and have gone through many batteries..i would not buy this item again and the money saved on the original purchase has been made up buy the number of collars and batteries twice over!!!
