Sports Afield Safe Failed. DOESN'T OPEN!

I'm extremely disappointed with this Sports Afield gun safe purchased from Sam's Club. For a product that is supposed to provide secure storage for firearms, the quality and support have been unacceptable. After only a short period of ownership, the safe stopped functioning properly. I reached out to customer service at Sports Afield expecting guidance or troubleshooting. Instead, I was told that I first needed to register the product, even though I already had the manual and paperwork. The manual itself lists multiple possible model numbers, which makes it unnecessarily confusing to even determine which safe I own. Customer service mentioned something about replacement parts, but provided no specifics about what part, why it failed, or how it would actually resolve the issue. There was very little clarity or meaningful help provided. For something as important as a firearm safe, I expected reliability and competent support. Unfortunately, this experience has been the opposite. At this point, I would much rather return the safe entirely than deal with ongoing issues and unclear support. Very disappointing purchase. Never again.

Hello Jack, anytime we need to send out replacement parts to a customer we first need the safe registered in our system. Once we have the registration filled out we will then know what part needs to be replaced and we would email you which part we are sending before it ships out. Please complete the registration and reply back to our customer service rep and we can send you the part you need to fix the issue.

Feature full, very functional

Have had this for over a year now and love it more every day. Very configurable, has lots of features and is priced at 1/3 the price of comparable safes. I have 4 long guns on the left hand side, 3 pistols and lots of mags/ammo on the right hand side, and 2 pistols in the door pockets (could probably fit 3 more) and it's pretty but functionally crammed. Lock is great and it will give you a low battery warning (batteries lasted about 13 months before I got the warning). Has a battery powered light system you can velcro in wherever you need it and also has a power cord which I do not use. I simply cannot state enough how pleased I am with this safe, especially considering the price.

Verified Purchase

Okay for the price point

This safe has some decent features like integrated lighting, customizable shelving and nice exterior paint. The electronic lock is pretty standard for this price range. The locking of the safe is a bit stiff and I see online that it may be prone to breaking a weld due to needing to crank the handle to open. Overall it is a good enough safe for the price point.

Sam’s Club: Great Safe, Horrible Service

The safe itself was actually nice — solid build, good size, great price point. Sam’s Club delivery and customer service? Complete trash. When we unboxed it, it looked like someone punted it off a forklift and then used it to practice field goals. Dents, scratches, missing paint — not just on one side, but all over. Even the keypad was banged up. (Still worked, though, so points to the manufacturer for building something tougher than Sam’s delivery crew.) Then came the circus. We paid for delivery, yet Sam’s first told us we needed to haul it back to the store. After pushing back, they agreed to refund the full cost and send verification. Shockingly, that email never came. Four phone calls and a week later, the story changed again: now they need to send someone out to pick it up before they’ll refund anything. At this point, I’m done. This will be the last big purchase I trust Sam’s Club with. The safe was worth buying but the delivery and customer service made the whole experience a headache I wouldn’t wish on anybody.

Dented all over, but good features…

Received this with ripped cardboard and once opened, it was apparent that this thing was likely and literally dropped from the back of a truck and tumbled end over end. The safe has dents and dings everywhere, the largest being 5”x3”. It's honestly impressive how the safe could be so damaged. I do like the features including the adjustable shelves, door mounted storage options, and LED lighting is nice bright and clean looking. Just pretty disappointed to receive a poor quality unit.

Very disappointed customer

It is a beautiful safe and has some great qualities! My problem is it was left outside in the rain and is damged on all sides from shipping and I also had to pay someone to get it inside of my house... I would think paying for shipping that it would be brought inside. I did make a complaint, so they sent another one but it was damaged worse than the first one was and shipped by FedEx again and FedEx will not bring items inside of your home. I was told that they would ship the other safe through Merc but that was not true. I am very disappointed with the handling of my situation!

Nice Safe - Terrible Ordering/Delivery Experience

The safe itself is nice and appears to be good quality, but the ordering and delivery process was a nightmare. My original order was not delivered on the scheduled date, and after multiple inquiries I was repeatedly told it was just running late. I was eventually told the order was cancelled due to being out of stock at the warehouse it was shipping from. What made this more frustrating is that I reordered the same day it was cancelled, as the item still showed in stock. I had to reorder at the non-sale price. That order did arrive as scheduled, but when the box was opened—this was a Christmas gift—the safe looked dirty and has multiple scratches, almost as if it had been used. Very disappointed in the overall experience. The product itself may be fine, but the shipping, pricing, and condition upon arrival were unacceptable. Returning it is more hassle than it's worth.

We picked this up and unboxed it at home. There is a large defect in the paint right in the front just above into the right of the dial. The paint is bubbled in a 6 x 6” area. Also, the 9 V that came with the Safe did not work Otherwise, this is the second safe like this that we have purchased, and we have been happy overall with the function of it.

Looks good but damaged

Good looking safe. Heavy as can be but like most others damaged during shipping. Sams offered to replace but would take 48-72 hours and i couldnt have this 340lb beast sitting in my kitchen for 3 days. So i took the consolation prize of a $100 refund. Just know before you order odds are FedEx will deliver it dented.

Help locating model and serial numbers

Just purchased one of these safes and the first one that was delivered was damaged. Contacted the seller and after about 20 minutes on the phone, a new one was on its way and they scheduled a pick up of the damaged unit. I have been automotive and industrial coatings industry for over 25 years and the finish on these units are very nice. Only thing I am having a hard time finding is the model and serial numbers on the replaced unit. Any help locating these would be appreciated so the warranty can be activated.
