Yummy BLT

Good product and makes the best BLT sandwich with using one slice. Cut into and toasted. Good taste. Will continue to buy.

Best Ingredients

This is my top pick for processed shelf bread for the ingredients. However, it is a bit pricey and often looks like half of a loaf.

Nice sourdough bread

I like this bread a lot. I always toast it and find it very satisfying. Not wild about the shape, but the taste is good. Strangely, once I tasted this, I'm having trouble finishing up my other breads that I have. I have Thomas's WW English muffins and Pepperidge Farms thin bagels, both good, but my body seems to only want the Rustic sourdough. It's not real moist and soft, but it's good just the same.

Dense, chewy, tangy.

The best grocery store sourdough I’ve had. No, it’s not like homemade. I don’t think you’ll find that in a grocery store. It is dense, chewy and tangy. I’m on my third package and I’ll definitely be buying more. I toasted it in the toaster oven until it was crunchy and made this avocado toast with pickled beets and shrimp. The recipe is on the back of the aunt nellies pickled beets jar and I used the frozen cooked shrimp.

No sugar and made with olive oil - tastes great!

I’m doing the LectinFree/Plant Paradox eating and no sugar or canola/corn/vegetable oils are allowed. Breads aren’t recommended but if you’re going to have bread, sourdough is ok. I check labels and was extremely happy to find Rustik Oven brand. I’ve driven 20-40 miles to get to a Walmart that carries it, since Georgetown doesn’t. The slices can be very wide so I just cut down the middle to make my wild Albacore Tuna Melt or can make one large sandwich and cut in half to share. It’s delicious with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Toasts up nicely spread with Kerrygold butter.

Why Sesame Seeds? Why Vinegar?

Adding Sesame seeds as the last ingredient is entirely unnecessary. It isn’t needed to bake the bread and it’s such a small amount that it doesn’t contribute to the taste profile. What it does do is make this bread inedible and hazardous to people with a sesame seed allergy. Why are sesame seeds an ingredient? Also, it’s not really sourdough. They just add vinegar to make the bread taste “tangy” like authentic sourdough. Go buy a piece of cheap white bread (which also contains sesame seeds for no apparent reason), dip a piece in white vinegar and it will take the same as this bread.

No sourdough flavor

I don’t typically write reviews, but I was so disappointed in this bread. It is truly flavorless, with no sourdough flavor at all. After I bit into it, I had to go back and check the package to make sure I had actually bought sourdough bread. I would steer clear of this.

Please get this at my Walmart location

Please get this at my Walmart location. Authentic flavor with no added sugar. I have to get it at Winco or Fred Meyer because Walmart doesn't have it near me. The wheat is good, also. It's rare to find whole wheat bred that tastes great without tons of sugar. Rustik does.

Actual bakery style sourdough

Spent 49 Years in California, where sourdough is a thing, everywhere, in every grocery store. Then i moved, and all i could find was big name brand bread company “sourdough” (insert eye roll) in a perfectly square, even loaf, that tastes nothing like, or has the texture of, sourdough. Found this today and I am ecstatic. Texture is good, taste is good, and an actual chewy crust on this round loaf, as it should be! This is the real deal. Sourdough is my favorite bread, and this is a decent substitute for what can be found in California. So pleased to have found it at Walmart.
