Work in progress

We have two large very furry dogs. That said I had to get used to the fact that it needed to be emptied pretty much after every room. I also learned that the filter needs to be replaced at least every two weeks if not before during the winter with the dirt/ mud and dust. I do like some of the convenience of the vacuum but I am not sure it was worth the money I paid for it. Again I work in progress not giving up just have to be more aware of what the vacuum needs.

If you have pets, skip this one

I received this vacuum for free in exchange for my honest review so here it is. The iRobot J8+ has some pros and some notable cons. Admittedly, I am comparing against the Shark Matrix, which we're happy with. The pros: self emptying canister, doesn't get "as stuck" as our Shark Matrix. It does a great job of scanning the room and with navigation overall. Irobot seemed a little confused when the lights are off though, unlike our Shark, which does great in the dark. Now for my honest cons: the self-emptying mechanism is LOUD. It sounds like a jet engine taking off every time it finishes a cleaning cycle and empties the bin. Admittedly, my Shark is not self-emptying, so maybe that's normal? As far as cleaning goes, I'm not sure if it's the rollers or what, but it leaves a lot of hair behind (we have a very fluffy cat with sticky undercoat), even on the high-suction setting. This was extremely disappointing so I would tell Roomba to continue developing suction power or look at different rollers perhaps? Our Shark Matrix (even on the normal setting) gets all of the hair in one pass, which is exactly what you'd expect. And honestly, the Shark makes a cuter sound when it's finished too. I have attached pics to demonstrate the cleaning power of both the Roomba iRobot J8+ and the Shark Matrix

Needs more space than you think.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After waiting many, many months, I finally received this product. It was very well packaged, with no space wasted in the box. Looking over the setup instructions, it seems simple, yet complicated, as it needs multiple feet of space around the charging base for it to navigate in and out. I have to rearrange my spare bedroom to provide enough space for an adequate setup.

My dogs didn't kill it

Always thought my two dogs wouldn't like it like the regular vacuum and try to attack it. I was afraid it would get destroyed the first time out. Nope... they can't even be bothered to move out of the way when it gets near them. Wish I had bought it years ago. And the best part is it does a great job cleaning also!!

This robot is amazing

I've had a few different robot vacuums over the years starting with the original Roomba. Recently had a shark vacuum that decided it had an appetite for cat poo and decided I needed to upgrade. This new Roomba was worth every penny as I no longer have to worry about it running over a cat toy and getting hung up and there's no more worry about it dragging a terd throughout the house. I was also impressed with how clean it left every room it cleaned. I'd recommend this to anyone, but especially people with pets

Love it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love this robot vacuum! It was very easy to set up and has an easy to use app. I really like that it maps your house out so you have the option to choose if you want to clean the entire house or only certain areas. I have a houseful of children and high shedding dogs and this vacuum has done a fantastic job at keeping our floors clean. The self emptying feature has been very useful for me too with my high traffic household! Haven't had any issues and love the "extra help" it gives around the house. I am thankful that I received this product complimentary for review purposes.

I have enjoyed having a r

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have enjoyed having a robot clean my home for the last 4 weeks. It works great but I wish I had one with a bin that empties itself. I have 3 cats and having to stop the roomba every 10 minutes to empty the bin is a bit excessive. But I'll take it instead of having to push around a vacuum multiple times a week. I would definitely recommend this product!

unusably buggy

Stops randomly in the middle of rooms with "drop-off detected" errors. Moving it around and cleaning the sensors does nothing, support is wildly unresponsive/unhelpful. Similar issues with it complaining about bin being full when it's not. There is no way to disable or override these erroneous errors.

Most frustrating and useless product I've ever purchased

This roomba worked amazing for the first 6 months. After that, it does every stupid glitchy thing you can think of. Running into the wall over and over again for 45 straight seconds, stopping in the middle of the room and just running in the same exact spot for 45 straight seconds, sending me communication errors that you can't resolve, telling me to empty the bin over and over when it's supposed to be self emptying even when i just manually emptied it, it still says to empty it again and again. Every issue you can be sent, gets sent over and over. You wait FOREVER on the phone to get to a person and they all make you do the same things the person before made you do that doesn't work. They sent out a replacement roomba that does the exact same stuff. The person who helped me was nice but there's something deeply wrong with the program now and this roomba just flat out does not work any more. This is the most expensive piece of poop I've ever purchased and I'm so mad that irobot doesn't do anything to make it right. If you're looking at these before buying, you'll see many people saying what I'm saying. Believe us. This is awful.

Wanted to update my review!

STILL TERRIBLE. We've had this vacuum for just about a year now. Started experiencing issues with it about a month in, contacted customer care and they would not refund us. All they did was send us brush replacements and told me that was the issue. No, that did not solve the issues. Constantly having to unplug it and factory reset to get it to work again. I posted a review on this site about two months ago and Irobot reached out to me and offered to send us a brand new vacuum which I thought was nice. We get the new vacuum, get all set up and less than a week later we are having the same exact issues as we were having with the old vacuum. This vacuum is garbage. not worth $800
