How does a manual vacuum work???

I have had Roombas for years. Had waited for the self-cleaning feature like I had seen in Europe many years ago. IRobot came through. I have a self-emptying unit on each floor. I really like the J7 Plus. Then I also have an I7 plus, and an I3 plus in the basement plus my old 600 series in the garage. (Manual empty). Waiting for IRobot to develop a better one unit vacuum/mopping bot that self-empties the water and dries the mop pad. (One of my kids has a manufacturer whose unit does this.) My loyalty lies with IRobot and their reliability after so many years of great performance.

Yes

We have an Umbrella Cockatoo in the house. This breed creates a lot of dander. I own two J5's and a M6 mop robot. They work great together to vacuum and mop the floors. The bird thinks they are alive and pitches food down to them as they pass her cage and ring stand.

Pure garbage. Don't waste your money and time.

This piece of garbage doesn't have enough suction to handle normal pet hair and dirt tracked in. Support can't fix anything permanently, so they send you a new one when the one you have won't do anything. Then it's just a matter of time before you repeat the process with the new one.

This is our second iRobot

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is our second iRobot vacuum and this one is much better than before. The included mapping feature is great, as you can add "no go" zones to keep the robot from going over areas in your house that you don't need vacuumed. Also nice that you can add multiple maps, so you can have multiple floors mapped out. The only drawbacks is the small dirt/dust bin that seems to need emptied after every vacuum, and that you can't see on in-real time where the robot has vacuumed and hasn't vacuumed.

Best thing I've ever purchased

I recently purchased the J7+ to replace my 692 model and I just love it. How can you not love having something vacuum for you while you are free to do other things? The reason I bought the J7+ was because I wanted a mapping feature and also the emptying feature and both work remarkably well. I can tell roomba to just vacuum a certain area and I don't have to babysit it and I'm confident it will do a great job and it does. I never should have waited so long to buy my first roomba and it only took me a year to upgrade that once I got a taste of what it could do. It's THE best investment I've ever made.

Works great for a house with a ton of pets!

We have a home with a lot of pets (3 small dogs and 4-5 cats). All are indoor pets so we get a lot of shedding going on. This robot has been wonderful at helping to keep the mess down. "Rosie" runs every morning during the week and we deep clean vacuum on the weekends. I love seeing the tracks on the carpet each day and knowing that she's helping to keep up with the hair. She doesn't pick up everything and we often times have little tufts of hair left on the carpet but she works wonders on the hard floors to keep the litter mess to a minimum. If we had full hard floors upstairs, I would pair with the mop robot. Rosie also is great at avoiding obstacles (we haven't had a mishap yet). She knows each of our pets and that they are all temporary obstacles to avoid. I can't remember the last time I had to review an obstacle. We also have a dog that is not quite housebroken and Rosie has never had a poop-cident. I am very impressed with this vacuum. The only real issue we have is that she doesn't seem to stay charged as much as she used to. She used to be able to do the whole upstairs on one charge and now seems to go back to the base one or two times to complete it. Not a huge thing and she still does a great job.

Still going strong at 6 months

The roomba has been on the job daily for 6 months, and I'm pleased to report that it's performing as well today as when it was new. I like the automatic disposal (just filled the first bag a couple weeks ago) which allows me to set it and forget it. Usually the roomba completes its daily task without issue. It has rarely gotten stuck, but those instances are due to a new obstacle, often my kids backpack straps or similar item. The roomba gets 4 stars because there are some minor issues. Keep in mind this is ideal for daily use so it's only picking up light stuff. Don't expect it to hold it's own against a high-powered plug in vacuum. Issues: the dust bin senses full too quick, the wheels and caster need manual cleaning of fur/hair pretty regularly, but that's about it for issues. I would recommend the j7+.

Robot died. Company not backing it's warranty.

Suboptimal suction and cleaning ability compared to the 980 model. More importantly, after five months of use, the robot died mid cleaning. Will not charge, power on, or respond to reset procedures. This was end of April. It took iRobot customer service more than a month to send a replacement battery (multiple emails from me asking for the battery they claimed was sent before it was shipped). Robot remains dead. They have asked me to try the same troubleshooting steps multiple times. I've done them, redundantly, without success. Just today they asked me again to update the robot's software, despite me already telling them multiple times that I've tried and the machine is unresponsive. They closed the email with if anything comes up in the future, I would be pleased to help. It has been 2.5 months since the product, which remains under warranty, died. I have requested for iRobot to repair or replace the J7+ multiple times and they do not respond to this request. At this point it seems like they are attempting to run out the clock on the warranty.

Don't waste your Money!

I have the Select membership and the J7 Robot, the membership is an awesome idea and sends replacement parts for the Robot and gives you the option to order them early if you need them. However the Robot was only great for about 8 months before it started messing up badly. Gets stuck during the job constantly and tells me the dust bin is full when there is little to nothing in the bin. Now it's starting to tell me one of the wheels in stuck, when it's not. I have to go find it and put in back on the dock and then go into the app and hit continue, which never actually continues the job it starts all over again.

We love this product

This is a great product. It's very versatile letting you clean your entire home or you can clean one room or multiple rooms at a time. The phone app let's you select what rooms you want to clean. You can monitor its progress. You are alerted when the cleaning is done. You can go back and look at the history of your cleaning. There have been several times where it picked up something like a lego piece, it shut down, and sent an alert about it so the lego piece could be removed. I have not really found anything negative about this product.
