It is a small annoyance even if you fix it from side bar it still pops up and then will revert to regular channels. we have 2 large Samsung TVs

You need your remotes to be redesigned to allow multiple TVs to work in homes that have multiple TVs in short distances within. Maybe to allow several configurations to programmed (A, B, C, D) for 4 different TVs.

The biggest drawback is the difficulty adding apps. I have tried multiple times to add “The Chosen” app and have been unable to add it. What good is a smart tv if I cannot add apps?

The TV is responsive and it easily pairs with Samsung phone and tablet. The remote charges by solar or USB-C. It hasn't happened to me, but a samsung phone or tablet can be used as the remote as well.
