I like to run it on propane

I have not had it long but I like it so much I had to write a review. I run my generator on propane. It is so much cleaner. I use it to power my RV, so always have propane. The output matches the power requirements of the trailer, which just plugs in with the same cable. It goes in the bed of my truck, under the bed cover, which keeps it safe and dry while travelling, but I don't run it under the cover, obviously.

Dual Fuel Generator

So far I'm impressed with this generator. After purchasing the wheel kit and installing I finally prepped the generator, added some gasoline, hooked up a propane tank, and started the generator. I started first using gasoline. I was amazed that it fired right up on the first pull of the starter cord. After running for a minute or so, I shut off the fuel valve and let the generator run out the gas. I then switched the fuel type switch, turned on the LP valve and again it started on the first pull. After running for a couple of minutes I turned off the fuel valve on the generator and let the engine die. Totally satisfied so far. Just need to add some load to the output and test.

Replacement Generator

I bought this earlier this month as a replacement for a larger 15 year old unit that I only used a couple times each year. I was having a problem starting the old unit because the gas line/carburetor was always fouling up and I was spending more time on repair than on emergency usage. I figured that a unit that runs on propane would solve my start up problems. As an added security, It also can be run on gasoline (ie: belts and suspenders). This new unit arrived on time and had no assembly required. Just added oil and attached an LP tank. Pulled the starter a couple times, with choke at 75%, and she started right up and was running smoothly. I also purchased the wheel kit (Champion #40065) and had it attached in about 15 mins. One other thing I attached was a propane tank gauge level Indicator. Now I am confident of an emergency power source that will start every time with no problems for my power outages. So, my rating is based on delivery, initial setup, startup and overall appearance. If I encounter problems in actual usage, I will update this rating.

Propane is the best way to go!

I like to get off the grid with my wife. We go 30 miles down the Padre Island National Seashore in Nueces County TX. I far prefer propane over gas due to the transportation safety of propane. This is my second unit as they only last about 3 years in the beach environment of South Texas. But, it works very well and provides enough power for AC through the entire night on a 30# tank for our 22' Airstream Bambi Sport. 8hrs on a small tank. I take very good care of my generator. I keep it clean and well lubed. I never run gas through it therefore it fires up without issue. Honestly, I removed the gas tank completely when I purchased this one in order to reduce weight as I am getting older. I will never run gas through this generator anyway. When using propane, let it sit and allow the propane to accumulate for 1-2 full minutes in a well-ventilated space outside of course, then pull start. I find this far more consistent regarding starting results. I recommend propane 10 to 1 as I have owned both types. Propane is the way to go. You may get a bit more power from gasoline but the odor and safety issues far outweigh the additional power. One thing I really prefer on this generator is the choke setting and position. It's much easier to adjust and start because of the choke placement. I know it sounds silly but pulling a starter is hard enough and this one is well designed.

Nice Unit

I bought this for my Travel Trailer. It is compact, lightweight and easy to start. It is powerful enough to run the AC and microwave at the same time. I use it solely on propane so I never worry about the gas going bad in the tank. The only reason it does not get all 5 stars is it is a little loud when running. Otherwise, it is a great generator.

Great Price and Great Product

I did a bunch of research and found a ton of people having problems with their gas generators. I bought this with the intention of only running propane only. I searched every vendor I could find and this was by far the best price for the best product in this range. The reviews for Champion generators are above average on every place that sells them. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is mine came slightly damaged but it was mostly cosmetic so I decided to not spend time returning it and messing with all that hassle. I'd definitely buy this again if needed

Great dual fuel generator

Love that this generator can run on either gas or propane. Great value and good sturdy construction. We were in a hurry when we bought this due to a hurricane looming, so I completely overlooked the fact that this generator does not have wheels. Huge mistake. It's very heavy and hard to move around.

Never ran 5 minutes

Filled with gas and oil. Started on the first pull. Ran 5 minutes and cut off by itself. Wouldn't start again. Tried next day. Did exactly the same thing. Called Champion. They ask you stupid questions like is there gas and oil in it. Returning it today.

Bought this due to the recent fires in LA.

Horrific Generator! Bought this generator due to the recent fires in Southern California. Purchased it because it had the dual fuel option. After filling it with Mobil 1 oil, I hooked the generator up to my recently filled propane tank. It ran for about 15 seconds with the choke off and then it died. It would not start again. Tried to get it running for the days and nothing. DOA! I got a lemon. Had to return it. Very frustrating to say the least.

Hello Mark, Sorry to hear this! We wish you had reached out to us through our support options which include 24/7/365 support. On a brand new machine, it is very likely to be something simple like an oil sensor reset or something of this nature that could have resolved the issue. Always reach out to the manufacturer if you should have an issue with an item... you may save yourself some of that frustration as we are always standing by to help! Thank you!

It sounds like perhaps this package was opened prior to purchase as it is beyond uncommon that there be nothing in the box except a generator. If needed, please give us a call at 877-338-0999 M-F 8:30AM-5PM PST or email us at SUPPORT@CPEAUTO.COM. We can supply you with the missing items. If you want to exchange the unit, then Sam's Club should be able to accommodate. If they won't reply to a comment on the product page or email, why don't you call the store or walk into the store. Someone will certainly assist you at that point.
