I am so glad I purchased the Aggie cold frame box. I have had a few warm days and the lid opened just like it should to cool the plants. I plan to start seeds and bulbs this week in the Aggie box. I love how easy the Aggie Cold Frame Box is the use. It is a great addition to my garden. Thank you!

This is an extremely high quality product. The cedar is heavy and thick. This is a solid piece that will stand up to hot summers and freezing winters. I love that I’ll be able to start plants earlier in the spring, and keep them later in the fall because of the greenhouse lid- and be able to protect my plants from hungry deer!

I am so happy with the cold frame. I put it together myself. I needed help with the lid and I had never used a locking nut. My son-in-law taught me how they work. My plants are doing great and I am very pleased.

I got my cold box at the beginning of March and put it together during some nicer weather. It was pretty straightforward but the planks across the bottom that support the dirt were a little too long so it angles out a bit toward the bottom. The track for the temp activated hinge is a little too short and it went off track and got stuck open a couple of times so I had to move the track. Other than those 2 issues, it's great! I started a bunch of lettuce and onions from seeds and they are thriving. We have a short growing season here in SD and a lot of hail and deer. This beauty solves all of those issues and keeps my garden safe from those things. The temperature activated arm works great and is very unique. Im planning to buy a second one to expand my garden and hopefully grow herbs year round 🤞🏻

I'm happy with the overall quality of this Aggie's Cold Frame greenhouse. It is a unique, beautiful, and genuinely functional product, and I think the price is fair for what you get. The best feature is the automatic ventilation. It works beautifully and saves me so much worry about my seedlings overheating during the day. That alone makes the cold frame much easier to use than a basic covered box. One thing I was surprised by: after purchase, I received manufacturer guidance explaining that the wood needs ongoing protective treatment, and Backyard Discovery's own care article says resealing is required for warranty coverage. I read the listing carefully before ordering, and I do not think this maintenance requirement was made clear enough upfront. I don't mind caring for wood products, but buyers should know that this is not a completely maintenance-free cold frame. My main complaint is the lid support system. The wind chain is not very useful in my case. The wood is on the softer side, and the chain is only held by a tiny screw, so I don't feel it adds much security. When I'm taking plants in and out, I really wish the lid could stay open more reliably. For this price, I think a proper lid stay should be included. It would make the whole system feel complete. I ended up ordering and installing my own lid stays. Because of the automatic ventilation arm, not every type of lid stay will work, so it took some research to find a compatible solution. After installing them, I love my Aggie's Cold Frame even more. Overall, I do recommend it. It is attractive, practical, and very helpful for seedlings, especially because of the automatic ventilation. Just be aware that the wood requires yearly maintenance, and you can want to add your own lid stays for a better everyday experience.

First, I have to say that the materials for this product are high-quality and accurately sized and fitted for assembly. Also, the instructions provided by Backyard for assembling the cold box are very detailed and easy to follow. Overall, an excellent product, BUT the instructions for be for installing the temperature sensing device are awful. Very obviously poorly translated into English from another language, not accurately descriptive in words or diagrams, and virtually impossible to follow. I ended up just giving up on installing that part of the project. Very unfortunate, since the actual cold box was so well made with such clear instructions. To cheep out on the temperature device was very disappointing..
