what is this chicken?

We have been buying this chicken for years. In the last few months it has been awful! We grill it no more than one day after we buy it. Some of the pieces are tough and chewy.Takes forever to chew a piece. Other pieces are rubbery and very strange in texture and taste. I do know if it is even chicken. It is so bad we have to throw it out. I wish Sams would get some good quality, fresh chicken that wasn't injected with hormones or whatever this is. I don't know when we last had a good package of chicken from Sams, maybe a year or so.

Stopped buying this chicken!

What are they doing to this chicken? Breasts are the size of a human foot! I've used the same recipe for cooking chicken BREAST in bulk for 25 years. Now, the chicken that I've cooked has sacks and pockets full of clear liquid when cutting into the meat?!?!?! I'm not eating anything injected, period. If I marinate the chicken for a few hours, it has a porous look and texture of a sponge. White striation marks on the meat visible through the package indicates a muscle disorder in the modern hybrid chicken. I am done!

You Need To Skip These

These breast are abnormally huge. Sam's is buying the breast that are not sellable to restaurants. You might as well call them seconds. Just look for the Tyson brand. It's not worth saving 30 cents to get these Members Mark Chicken Breasts. There's no way to know how these chickens got such large breasts.

Chicken has changed

The last two times we purchased this chicken, we noticed how fishy it tasted. The first time we thought it was the seasoning. Made it tonight and could hardly eat it. We are wondering if the chickens are being fed fish meal. We will not purchase chicken breasts from Sam's club any more. Typically, their meat is excellent. This is the first poor quality meat we have purchased in years. So happy we didn't serve this for guests.

Terrible

Always loved chicken and always bought from Sam’s Club. However a few months back all of a sudden I couldn’t stand the smell of raw chicken or the taste of it after cooking. I thought it was strange but one of those things. My husband loves chicken so I was going to buy some for him and I noticed the very low review rating and realized that something did change with their supplier and/or packaging based on others reviews and it wasn’t just me.

Low Quality

What used to be Tyson's brand at $1.92 lb is now Members Club $2.68 lb and the quality has gone down to canners and cutters, probably old laying hens. The meat is tough and has a lot of left on fat and other debris that is not edible, adding salt water does not make it tender, but adds weight along with the other discarded debris to up the profit margin. Not worth buying anymore.

Only 2% Retained Water & Breasts Were Well Trimmed

I bought two packages of the Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts through curbside pickup a few days ago. I was impressed with a few things - first the quality of the meat that the shopper picked out for me at the Sheffield Village, Ohio location. It was fresh with a week to go before the sell by date. Secondly, the amount of water or broth added to the chicken that some stores claim to make the meat more tender and flavorful was not declared on the item page, so I was a little leery, especially with one review complaining about how heavy with water the empty package was. This was not my experience, and the package itself says 2% retained water, which is phenomenal. The third thing that impressed me was how well the breasts had been trimmed. I didn't feel as though I was paying for chicken fat like I do from some stores. The attached picture shows how little fat I removed from a almost 6¼ pounds of chicken breast. I prepared them for dehydration so I tried to scrupulously remove as much fat as possible, sometimes at the risk of cutting out some meat, because fat will not dehydrate so there is a risk of it going rancid. If I were trimming for frying or baking there would have been even less fat. The second package that I got had similar results.

Not Celiac Safe

INJECTED: BEWARE!

We ordered this for pickup - this picture does not indicate that it was injected but the package we brought home clearly indicated it was injected with broth. Our daughter has Celiac Disease and cannot eat this (broth contains wheat or other gluten ingredients)! Would never have bought it!!
