Terrific Value

Had never purchased or wanted to even consider purchasing a General Tire...think again. Sure the othe top brands sound sexy but to me it's about price and features. We drive a Nissan Altima...do We really need all the bells and whistles at ridiculous prices? Not! These have worked out really well. They corner well, are quiet and are wearing well. For the price vs the other guys: no contest

Garage can't them balanced

I purchased these tires around halloween, anticipating the upcoming snowfall. Being my second set of General tires, I was looking forward to the purchase. I was slightly disappointed to see these tires were made in Ecuador. The snow and ice traction is great, ride is quiet, however I had a nasty vibration with them at 65+mph. I took my vehicle back to the dealer that installed them. Had them rechecked, all four out of balance, had them rebalaced again. Same story, still had a vibration, just not as bad as the first time. 3 out of 4 were out of balance again, dealer had to remove them off the rim, turn them a different direction on the rim, remount, and rebalance. Needless to say, I'm not sure what to think about these tires. If I could replace with a different set I would. Another disappointment is not having a phone number for warranty claims. If I would have known these issues would have occurred, I would have went with a different brand...

My ""Go To"" tire is the Alitimax RT43

I work in the automotive field and recommend tires for specific applications to clients on a daily basis. The Altimax RT43 has become a very common and practical choice for many drivers, myself included. No other tire in it's price range comes close to delivering the reliable performance and longevity of the Altimax RT43. I even installed a set on my college-bound daughter's car. I guess you could say that the Altimax RT43 also delivers a secure state of mind too!

Noisy but Safe

These tires are noisier than average as indicated in Consumer Reports but worth it for the safety of performance. Used on a 2011 Kia Sorento two-wheel-drive SUV the noise level on most interstate highway speeds would be objectionable to people who are used to riding in luxury cars but would seem fine to jeep and older pickup truck drivers.  In my application steering is incredibly precise and very controllable under all conditions. I don't know about traction because I have never had wheel slip occur in either acceleration or braking, possibly partly because I don't tailgate in order to save fuel.

Really Disappointed

I bought my wife a set of Altimax tires for her Honda CRV. After much research, I was convinced that the Altimax was the best tires for treadwear vs price. Even Consumer Report gave them a good rating.  I hate to give negative reviews, but thus far, the only worse tires I ever purchased were Khumo. My wife is a slow and careful driver, rarely exceeding 55 mph, even on the interstate. With 38,000 miles on these tires, the wear bar is already very visible with only about 3/32 tread wear remaining on each tire. A few more thousand miles and I will be able to see the air in these tires.  The wear is very even across the tires, eliminating any mechanical alignment problems. Very disappointed. I can only hope General will pro rate these tires and help me out. If not, I will continue my search for a decent tire brand that is affordable. It certainly is not General.

Great Tire at a Reasonable Price

I have used Pirelli tires for years. Driving a car now that's not ""sports"" oriented I decided to follow the review by Tire Rack and went with the AltiMAX RT43. I have not been disappointed, these tires are good in wet and dry and offer great value.

Great wear and ride on my 2009 Tacoma

When I replaced my original tires I went  with fancy Yokohoma tires. Much more expensive than these tires and they wore out fast. I put these RT43's on and they hold the road, work great in the rain and have these wear strips that warn you about uneven wear. I put them on my Sienna too. They performed great in the snow too.

Great all season tire

The General AltMAX RT 43 has got to be the best tire I've ever seen in it's class. Reasonably priced, long tread life, holds the road  in dry, wet, and even light snow well. And best of all, the tire is very quiet on the road. I've bought four complete tire sets so far. Two for my cars, two for my daughters cars. Just hope they don't stop making them.

Great traction

I am extremely pleased with the looks and performance of these tires.  I have a 1990 mustang 5.0.  The tires provide the handling and traction I expect for this vehicle.  They are sticky enough to lay the power down as well.  I like them so much I plan to purchase a set for my suv next.  I'm a satisfied customer

Best value tire for the money.

Grip.  Quiet.  Wet traction.  Smooth.  Perfectly balanced even after 20K miles.  I would buy these tires again in a heartbeat.  When my next set wears out on another car, I'm buying General.  I also put Grabbers on my Sequoia.  Great decision on my part.
