major improvement over factory tire

I purchased these last fall, the factory tires which never had very good traction were to the point that I could not do another winter with them.  I have low mileage on my car since it is only a 'work' car so wear was not the issue.  These Generals have considerable amount of traction comparably and improve the handling of the car.  They allowed me to make it through the winter, even driveway busting through 6 some foot deep snow drifts in my little Sonic, very impressive as I did not want to walk the rest of the way (200 yards or so in cold blowing snow).  I used Tire Rack to  review options and in my opinion, these were the best for me.  Very pleased with this purchase.

Best Tire For The Money

These are the best tires I have ever put on any vehicle we have owned. We put them on 2 of our cars and my mother in-law has a set on her car. They ride very nicely with very little road noise on normal surfaces. They get a little noisy when the cuts on the road go against the tires(cross cutting for drainage). They have worn very well and we keep rotating them at oil changes. Traction is very good on wet surfaces and was surprised at the traction on snow and light ice road coverings. At this point until they discontinue this model, we will keep putting these tires on every car we buy.

Great tire at a great price

These tires were recommended to me by a co-worker.  I was skeptical, but decided to try them out when I needed tires on my Prius V.  They've been rolling for about 12,000 miles now, and so far no complaints.  Actually, I'm so impressed with the RT43 that I put a set on my daughter's Corolla just a few weeks ago.  Quiet and comfortable ride, good snow and wet traction, and good price.  What else could you ask for?  I suspect, like all softer tires, there is little chance I will actually get anything near the 65K mile wear rating on them.  But I will be paying close attention to how they wear and any noise level increase as they age, so consider this review ""preliminary"".

Very Comfortable Ride - Good Value

I needed fresh 14"" tires for an '84 Mercedes 300CD.  I use this in dry weather at or above freezing.   The Michelins that were on the car when I got it were out of date and the rubber was cracking.  Those tires are crazy expensive and there were enough decent reviews on line that suggested this was a very good tire for the cost.  They were correct. These are every bit as quiet as the MIchelins (though the diesel sound takes up the slack).  They corner quietly too.  Just as important, they seem to grip nicely as well. There aren't all too many 14"" tires available any more, but these are and worthy of consideration.

Vibration from day one

As soon as I purchased these tires my truck vibrates.  I've brought them back to the tire dealer and they rebalanced them on three separate occasions. After the the third failed attempt they gave me a new set of the same exact brand and still vibration.  I've been to 5 different mechanics and they say everything under the vehicle is tight and they see no issue in the vehicle that perhaps its the tires.  I received a recall letter but the DOT on my tires are not included in the recall which is hard to believe because the letter states you will experience excessive vibration which I have experienced from day one.  Unless the tire dealer has damaged my vehicle, which I highly doubt, it is the tires because my truck NEVER vibrated until these tires were installed onto my vehicle.

I do buy this product again and again!

These tires first impressed me  quite a few years ago, when I had them installed on a Honda Accord. A few days later we had an early snow fall that dropped a few inches quickly. I thought I was going to be in trouble but these tires really started to shine. My tire dealer didn't have a lot of experience with this particular tire so when I told him how great they were, he started selling more and more. I currently have them on our Volvo, Subaru, and Toyota. I have always sworn by General Grabbers.. usually AT, but I have tried the APT and found them to be an all around great tire as well. You can't beat General tires dollar for dollar, and they are far superior to most competitors. (IMHO)

Check the manufacturer date before buying

I would not recommend buying these. There is obviously a bad batch of tires being made. In less than 500 miles a sidewall bulge on the front passenger tire appeared. Dealership Replaced under warranty, now new tire with same dot and manufacturer date with around 1k miles has another bulge! This is my first set of general tires, never heard anything bad about them, but i have never had an issue with sidewalls an any other tire brand. I would understand if I was a teenager curbing my vehicle everywhere I turned, but this is absolutely not the case. Extremely disappointed in my purchase.

Beautiful Design, Great Ride.

Full disclosure, I purchased a set of 205/55R16's for my Mazda 3, and they were almost perfect. One small drawback was, they Tramlined. A Lot. And in the Southwest, there's a lot of lateral grooved concrete highway. So the car would dance around my whole commute. Couldn't stand it.  Switched the set onto my 2014 Civic, and was reasonably impressed, a little tramlining here and there, but not enough to cause any sort of worry. So I kept the tire on the Civic, which only sees short commutes, and bought a different brand for my Mazda.  The Altimax rt43 was almost the perfect package. In the rain it kept us safe, but with my long, obnoxious commutes, It was a little too Tramline happy. Otherwise great tire!

Best All Season tire

Have been using RT 43s on all my cars (BMW 525 & 328, Audi A4, Honda Accord and Fit, Ford Taurus, Olds intrigue) since they were introduced... over 10 years.  My children use them.  Run year round on several cars.  RT43s handle great, are quiet and rice well, have good snow traction, don't hydroplane, and stop well in all conditions, wear well, and are the best priced buy I've found.

Great All Season Tire

We bought these for our 2009 Honda Element and where going to get the Michelin primacy's, but with the CV19 issues, we couldn't get any, so we decided on the General Altima 43's instead.  I have had General tires in the past and always had good traction and wear and the these are the best General tires we have owned to date.  They ride just as good as the Michelin brand, are great in heavy rain here in Florida and give us great gas mileage.   If you want a good premium tire that will perform in all types of weather, ride great with low noise, get good mileage, buy the General Altima's, you won't regret it.
