Good tires, so far.

I put a set of Altimax 43's on my wife's 2013 Ford C-Max in October 2017 and was impressed enough to put a set on my 2005 Ford 500 in January of 2018. Very good wet traction but am most impressed with how quiet they are at highway speeds. Holding off 5 stars until seeing how they wear over time. Only downside is the tires will ""thump"" a bit if the vehicles are parked more than 3 days but goes away as they will start to get more round after about 3 miles. Overall, vey happy, good tires at a good price..

Well worth buying

They are better than a four, but they are brand new. I had a set of General Grabber's on my 94 Ford Ranger for about 4 1/2 years and got about 60k on them when they were finally about worn out with 2-3/32 of tread on them. So I was going to buy another set because they were great.  However they didn't make them in my size so I bought these instead in the last week of June 2019, and man and I happy.  These are EXTREMELY quiet was the first thing I noticed.  They had an initial grip from being virgin rubber that I really like but I thought that would wear away very quickly.  So far I've put 1000 miles on them in dry and most recently a severe down pour with several inches of rain that I had a very long drive in.  THey performed like no body's business.  Not a single bit of hydroplaning or squirly steering at all.  Gripped the roads during sharp turns at high speeds all the time.  I can't rate tread life due to being new and I can't rate fuel effiency because they haven't changed it.

Great all season tire

The General AltMAX RT 43 has got to be the best tire I've ever seen in it's class. Reasonably priced, long tread life, holds the road  in dry, wet, and even light snow well. And best of all, the tire is very quiet on the road. I've bought four complete tire sets so far. Two for my cars, two for my daughters cars. Just hope they don't stop making them.

Good Tire for Price

These are good tires, and consistent with online reviews that I read when I was doing my research before buying new replacement tires.  They have ""tough"" sidewalls for a lower aspect tire, meaning that they do not get sidewall damage when you can't avoid hitting a pothole - of which there are many in Michigan.  I've also found them to work well in snow and track well in the wet.  The ride is good and they are relatively quiet - also seem to handle corners quite well.  The weird thing is they feel ""out of round"" after the car sits overnight...which goes away in the first mile of so after you start driving...I also read this in a couple of other reviews - no big deal, I guess.  These tires are very well priced and a perform very well, particularly considering the price point vs other competitors and their applicable tires in the size that fits the 18"" wheels on my Buick Verano - I would say I drive my cars in a fairly proactive manner...so tires that perform well are important.

Fantastic Tire. Great in all weather

I bought this tire based on the many reviews that stated how great it was in snow. We bought a house in north Idaho as a vacation rental and I travel there once a month to check on it. In the winter, there is a pretty significant amount of snow there and on the passes I need to traverse.  I have to say that this is a great tire. It is quiet and tracks very well in rain. Snow performance is off the charts. 12 inches of snow didn't phase it at all. Even on ice it works as well as possible.   Personally, I never buy dedicated snow tires and this tire makes it easy. Just mount and drive.   I can't comment on tread life as I have only put on about 4k miles on them. But all indications that 45k should not be a problem. These are mounted on my 2004 Toyota Highlander 4WD.

Nice tire at a great price

The Altimax RT43 on our 09 Subaru Impreza has proven itself as a well rounded performer. The ride is smooth, steering input is good, wet weather conditions are easily handled and light snow is within its range of use. Tire wear is far better than original tires.

Excellent Value

I bought these tires at our local coop a few months ago for a great price and have rotated them twice already. Quiet compared to the continentals that were on our Subaru, and with almost 20k miles on them, the tread appears to be holding up well enough for the 75k warranty.

Agree with Consumer Reports

After a great deal of online research including a good recommendation from Consumer Reports, I chose the AltiMAX RT43.  I determined it the best overall tire to be driven by me in the south.  The tire grips the road in the rain, and I have no fear of hydroplaning. The interstate driving has been decidedly pleasant, and no differentiation can be noted at different speeds. When a little get up and go is needed, the tires perform well with the V-Tech engine. Time will tell about the wear.

Best small-car tire value with quality.

Bought 4 new General Altimax RT43 (186/65R14) for my Prizm/Corolla just before the long Michigan winter. Worked just EXCELLENT in the winter snow, slush, and rain on this small car with a 5 speed manual transmission! Very Good at taking bad roads, too. Have your local tire company order and install, best way to go. This is the absolute best value for a top-quality all-season small car tire.

Great tire at a good price

I have run Generals on my 4Runner, RAV4 and my daughters Legacy.  Very happy with all of the tires.  They get a great rating from Consumer Reports.  I run snows as well as all season (BTW snows stop you over 300 feet shorter in snow and ice at 55 MPH as AWD or 4WD don't help you stop!!!). I will continue to buy
