Shipping- item came in its box. Arrived in perfect condition. it has a plastic wrapper, a piece of thin plastic/ felt thing on the lid, and one cardboard piece inside to keep it in place. I did not need any tools to open this (yay), and along with the minimal use of materials it gets 5 stars for packaging. Appearance- it is stainless steel with black plastic accents. The design is sleek and very modern, with rounded edges, and looks very clean. There aren’t many buttons, one handle, and one logo on top. It looks way more sturdy and high end than the weight suggests. The inside initially looks like a hassle to clean, as it has a few nooks and stuff, but it has an inner can that comes out. On the exterior, it looks like the metal parts would hold up to scrubbing, but I don’t think the plastic would be shiny if you scrubbed it with anything besides a soft sponge. Functionality- I give it a WOW! first off, it is super light. I lifted it out of the box easily, and I would say this thing looks like a tank but weighs as much as a plain plastic trash can. I am a woman with no upper body strength and carpal tunnel, but I can lift this above my shoulder with one arm. There is also a handle built into the back to make it even easier to lift. It is simple to start and operate. It just takes 4 AA batteries, and the battery compartment has a smart little twist closure which is much easier and sturdier than the typical push tab thing that most battery compartments have. Then just flip the power switch in the back and it’s ready. The sensor works great, you really can operate it by waving your hand 10 inches from it. I’m going to be honest, I didn’t read the instructions before I played with it- so it took me a minute to figure out that the sensor only opens, it doesn’t close it. But you don’t need that feature because it closes automatically after about 5 seconds. There are also two flat buttons that will open or close it on the top of the lid- and all you have to do is run your finger lightly over it to operate. There is a mere whisper when the lid opens and closes. The whole lid lifts up easily, there is no clasp or anything holding it in place, and is also super light. Very cool and easy. The inside has another plastic bin, and this is the only place I run into trouble. I have to take the whole thing out to put the plastic bag on, and I think over time, if this trash can isn’t cleaned regularly and well, it could get gross. It is also not really sealed around the lip- the lid functions as a seal of sorts, which could cause leakage into the trash can outside of the actual trash compartment if something wet was thrown in at an angle or something. The inner can does have a few nooks and crannies but nothing that looks too problematic as far as cleaning. Overall- I did not know how much joy I could have in a trash can until this. The entire family is enthralled and not only is it fun and functional, it looks awesome in the kitchen. We feel like we finally live in the future that Duck Dodgers led us to think the year 2025 would be. My only complaint is that I have to take the whole inside bin out to replace the liner, but I am totally willing to do it for this trash can. Other than that, it is very usable, easy, and has all the features I could possibly need a trash can to be.

Love this trash can! The style, length, and sensor! I really like the distance it reads when I come close to it when it opens and the length of time it stays opened. I also, like the feature if you press open it will remain open for a couple of minutes giving you time to dispose. I do struggle to find a trash bag that fits the trash can, I have bought the brand but it’s a like snuggly and if you buy a bigger size it’s a little big but over all manageable. It definitely doesn’t drain my battery fast since I’ve gotten this trashcan I have not changed the batteries at all. That’s a plus!! I’ve had other brands where the batteries drain too fast and I just don’t use that feature.

I chose this can because I searched high and low for a trash bin that was 16.4 inches like my last one that just broke. This fit the bill according to the specs on Sam's website. Upon arrival it didn't fit my space, and it turns out it is 18.2 inches wide. So I can't even try this nice trash can and have to start my search all over. It's disappointing because the price was right compared to other trash bins on the market.

I have been looking for a new stainless-steel trash can to replace the one i had, it was a step can, made lots of noise and was very difficult to clean. Reading the reviews and looking at the photos of the inside provided really solidified my choice. It is ALL stainless-steel, very attractive, does not take up much space %26 best of all, there are no little cracks, openings or crevices for crumbs/food to fall into and never able to get out!! It is lightweight, non-slip bottom to prevent sliding around, extremely quiet. My old one was so loud when the lid hit the wall while opening, i always had to move it away from the wall. (which was probably 10 times a day. Runs on 4 AA batteries, very easy to access the compartment and slide in with ease. The inner bucket is also light picking it up to empty, NOT seemingly impossible to get the bag in, like many other cans. My old one was very oddly shaped %26 i had to stretch it to the max. Operates without issue. I have come across many other cans that seem to open or close randomly, i have not had any of those issues. The motion sensor is as sensitive as it should be. I wave my hand over %26 it opens. If i need to have it open for a few moments longer, i keep my hand over the aluminated light. It stays open until you take it away. This is an excellent product AND price. Sams is a very reputable Co, and i prefer shopping here because if you have any issues, they are more than happy to fix the issue.

This is a great trash can. Very easy to operate, and it opens and closes quietly. The only downside I have found is that regular tall kitchen garbage bags are a very tight fit for the inner liner. They do fit but it's a bit of a struggle. Otherwise great!

You’ve got a love a trashcan that will automatically open for you, so you don’t have to touch it. It’s a great size and doesn’t stick out too much, my only grip is when you change the bag you have to remove this plastic insert and if it doesn’t get set in just right, the lid doesn’t fit. It took a little getting used to, but it works for us now!

Absolutely love this product. Not only does it look elegant but it’s awesome overall. Love that it only requires 2 batteries and any regular trash bags fit in it. It holds a lot of trash and it quite easy to change out the bags. I would absolutely recommend to friends and family.

Always kind of thought spending this amount of money for a trash can is rather silly. Have I used a cardboard box on occasion as a receptacle? yes. The plastic one I've been using for at least 6 years was fine and I don't think I paid more than $12 for it. but I did lose the manual lid at some point. Ok lots of Stainless steel in my kitchen anyway so lets see it in the space. Fits right in, top and sides are all Stainless Steel, like it has a removeable insert (nice touch) automatic opening (like it so far). It's an expensive upgrade but it is an upgrade.

Wow!!! This trash can is great. First, it's very large and fits a lot of trash Second, the motion sensor is PERFECT. It doesn't open when you walk by which our old trash can does. It seems minor but the trash can opening Every time you walk by is annoying.

Great product. Pretty good quality. This is the third type of trash can like this that I've owned, and this one seems to be of a higher quality than more previous two in the same price range. The sensor is pretty sensitive, so it would be nice to have an adjustment setting.But other than that, it works great.
