Good Protein Powder

My husband and I have been using Purely Inspired Protein powder for several years. I have a lot of food sensitivities and this is a powder that I can tolerate. I have always liked the plant based ingredients and the taste. The price is very reasonable compared to other protein powders. HOWEVER the new container is absolutely HORRIBLE. We struggle every time to get the lid off. Even after fighting it to get it to turn it will then rotate a bit and get stuck again. We have to usually bang it on the counter to try and break the seal. I mean seariously an older person could not get into this. But hey, we are getting up there ourselves being in our upper 50's. If this isn't fixed soon we will have to stop buying it. I am giving 4 stars only because of the lid.

What Protein?

I like the taste, digestibility, animal free aspect of the product. I am disappointed that there is no information providing the amino acid profile. After digging around, only the FAQ addresses this, stating that only THREE aminos are present. If this is true, the product is not a complete amino source. It's useless, as aminos are only taken up by the body if essential aminos are present and in the correct proportions. Do your research.

Not a fan of new taste.

I loved this product and was buying the Decadent Chocolate fairly regularly because it was one of the few chocolate nutritional shakes that tasted great. Unfortunately, since they have recently changed their look and taste, I find it very hard to enjoy. I have to make more potent fruit additions (unsweetened shredded coconut and strawberry mostly) to compensate for the grainy, "typical protein shake" taste. I understand the protein increased by 2g and the sugar decreased by 1g, but I am not sure it was worth it. Maybe they will try to improve.

Great tasting and easy to mix

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Organic Protein was a great tasting protein powder! I used it after my evening workouts. Instead of eating useless carbs I would mix the organic Protein with Greek yogurt or sometimes just milk. It was easy to mix in either the yogurt or the Milk!

Not my favorite

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this protein to supplement my post-workout routine. I prefer a protein with an abundance of flavor. This did not have that. The protein itself was lacking flavor and remained thick and left me with a chalky aftertaste. I am not a fan of organic proteins, maybe you are. maybe you should try it for yourself.

It's not as good

I looked at the ingredients on the new label versus my last container and they are different. I knew something was up because when I opened the new container the smell was different. It does not taste decadent anymore, there is some sort of sourness.

Bad "new taste"

I've been buying this brand once a month for at least a year. I've always loved it. My whole family does. I recommended it to my dad for some protein in his diet and so he bought it and said it was nasty. I thought he was crazy until I went to his house and saw the packaging was different. I made one from his canister (which...that tall scoop is ridiculous and hard to use) and the taste is disgusting! The stevia aftertaste is so strong and it taste like every other gross protein powder on the market. I'm so disappointed. Why change something that was SO GOOD??

Great Product - Terrible Lid Design

I have purchased approximately two containers of this product each month for the past two years. The product tastes great. However, I will no longer purchase the product until you address the issue with how difficult it is to remove the lid from the container. As noted by other reviewers. it is nearly impossible to remove the lid when opening the product the first time.

RIDICULOUS SHRINKFLATION PRICE GOUGING!!!

The original was 1.50 pounds than went to 1.35. Now another “new look” which really means “giving you less product under the guise of being environmentally friendly” and also LESS protein. Used to be 22 grams now 20. Less product, less protein, same price!

Plant Proteins Do Not Mix Well?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As with all my protein products, I took this before and after my workouts. At this point, I feel like protein products of the same type are basically the same save for the brand and price. This being made from organic peas and rice obviously would contribute to a hefty price, but for most people (who are not vegans or what not), whey would be the better option. I have also tried plant based protein in the form of soy protein in the past, and much like soy, this stuff did not mix well at all compared to any of the whey proteins I have used. As for taste, it's tolerable but I just chug this stuff anyhow.
