Quiet dehumidier

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this to replace 20 year old unit for my mother for her basement. So far, it is working well. Hope it lasts as long as the old one!

Simple, works great.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a month ago. It's in my finished basement and pulls more moisture out than my old unit ever did. Very quiet, simple to use. I hope it stands the test of time.

good product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The product is quiet; efficient; emptying the full collection bucket is not as easy as I would prefer - is difficult to put back in place.

Great product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Had it for a month and does a great job. Easy to use and empty. I just converted to continuous drainage and works fine.

Great product and good price

Product performs as expected. Sure, it gives off heat, but that's what motors do. It runs pretty quietly--you could have this on your main floor, and it would seem like white noise. Mine is in the basement, and I hooked up a short hose to drain into my floor drain. I have the humidity dialed down to "50" and my (separate) hygrometer is reading "65", which is fine. I am running it all the time, just for the first few weeks. Unit lacks a drain hose, but Walmart has those for $6. Walmart had this unit for $20 less than Amazon, and delivered it for free--three days faster than they'd said it would arrive. I like "under-promise and over-deliver."

Works Great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this about a month ago. So far it has done the job of removing humidity in my basement office. Very satisfied. Just wish it would totally shut off when it reaches the Humidity level that you selected. The compressor shuts down but the fan keeps working.

Did not opperate very accurately

First of all let me point out the general rules for selecting a dehumidifier. For moderately damp conditions, you will need one that can extract 10 pints of water within 500 square feet. For every additional 500 square feet, add 4 pints . For example, for rooms that are 1500 square feet, you will need a dehumidifier that can extract 18 pints of water. For very damp conditions, buy one that can extract 12 pints of water within 500 square feet. For every extra 500 square feet, add 5 pints. For wet conditions, choose one that can collect 14 pints of water within 500 square feet. Add 6 pints for every additional 500 square feet. For extremely wet humidity conditions, you should need one that extracts 16 pints of water from the air within 500 square feet. Add 7 pints for every extra 500 square feet. Use an accurate hydrometer to determine the above before you dehumidify. 90-100 % RH (relative humidity) = wet; 80-90 =very damp; 60-70%= moderately damp. The area I wanted to dehumidify was about 1500 sq ft, and has a RH of between 60-70% most of the time. So a dehumidifier rated at 20 should have been enough. While this dehumidifier did reduce the humidity to appropriate levels, it never stops running. The compressor does shut off, but the fan keeps on running all the time. An unnecessary energy consumption as far as I am concerned. But my biggest complaint is that the humidstat (or humistat) on the unit is not accurate. This was my second Frigidaire of this model (returned the first) and they both read high and seldom changed value, which may be why the humidifier never shuts off. For example, when the humidifier was set to a value of 50 RH, the humidistat on the humidifier read 60. While two independent humidistats read 45.

50 pint ES Frigidaire

The dehumidifier seems to quickly get the humidity down, I have it set at 45% in my basement. It was reading 75% when I plugged it in. I could tell after one day a big difference. The only thing I don't like is that it never shuts off, even when it gets to 45%. So I tried it at 50%... still running.. but I hear the condenser ( i think that's what it is) shut down, but the fan continues to blow constantly. My old one would shut all the way down and come on when needed, I prefer that, so I will most likely be returning this product.

I have a concern

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had my 50pint dehumidifier since 2014. It has been wonderful until lately when I turn it off at the button on the top of the unit, the motor continues to run. ??? I have to unplug it from the wall. Why is it doing this? Am worried it will start a fire if left plugged in. Please adbise

Thank you for stopping by to share your feedback with us and bringing your dehumidifier concerns to our attention, CSR32792! Once the humidity setting is chosen, the dehumidifier will run until it reaches the setting chosen and shut off. Once it does shut off, the fan may come back on to test the air. This may make it sound as if it’s running all the time, which is possibly what you are hearing if it is coming back on.
