Tired of ink jet cartridges drying up and not working, I bought this small laser printer. Walmart (Fedex) delivered it quickly and setup was easy. No wi-fi, so just one USB wire sets it up. Ran the software and it went in fine. Able to start and stop it any time when the computer is on without problems. Only put a dozen pages through, including one that was both sides, and it worked fine.

Ultra-low-cost very reliable small-footprint B&W printer. After I realized I didn't really need color printing I also realized I could get to an ultra-low cost-per-page level with something like this. Very happy for making the swap. Of course this unit does not scan/copy, but I have a separate SnapScan for that. And I use an online faxing service, so I am not missing that function.

I replaced this model's predecessor after about 10 years of faithful service. I love both printers. My only gripe is that after 10 years, Brother still hasn't gotten the hand-fee to print envelopes and Avery 5-up address labels straight. They always, ALWAYS print cock-eyed, even if I hold the label and make sure it guides in straight. Very disappointing!

Easy to setup and use. Only negative is that it gives off an obnoxious odor for a short time on start up (and perhaps to a much lesser extent while printing). I believe this is common to most, if not all, laser printers because of heating of internal parts upon startup and maybe the laser fusion of the toner to the paper. I believe the printer should be used in an area with ventilation -- especially if used in an enclosed office or small area or room.

For someone that wants a great, simple printer I recommend this one. Very simple to set up, works very well, and is great for a home office. I wish it would have come with the necessary USB cable, but you do have to purchase that separately. Only costs around $7.00 but it would be helpful to know that. That's why I gave it 4 stars.

This printer does not work how I expected it to work. The print quality is fine for a word document with letters. But when you go to print a black and white picture (on regular computer paper) it turns out so bad! The quality is horrible! There are lines and little dots through the entire photo. I even tried printing a really small picture and it still turned out horrible. I'm very disappointed in the quality of this printer. I thought it was going to be an excellent printer, but I thought wrong. Even my HP inkjet printer printed better than this.

I was looking for an affordable, simple black and white laser printer because I don't print a lot and sometimes go weeks without printing anything. This model looked like exactly what I need, and it was. I also appreciate the fact that the downloads page for drivers has the basic driver listed along with the full software package rather than making you dig around for it.

I love this Brother HL-L2300D printer! I had just returned two Epson printers that printed well, but needed parts such as an "ink pad" & an "box box replacement" that seemed extraneous to printing, yet were critical & unavailable due to the model being discontinued three years after I bought them! Never again! I am so happy to have found this Brother printer that is compatible with my iMac and prints beautifully with black ink, which is all I wanted!

The duplex printing, or any printing is faster than larger commercial-grade printers I use at work. For the FIRST print of the day, I've counted between 5-7 seconds from pressing the print button to the printer spooling up. I'm plugged in directly via USB cable. Rarely does someone actually require color, and the laser ink is far economical than ink jet cartridges. No complicated bells and whistles you'll only use once a year, this is a solid DUPLEX laser printer for the home!

I have a small bookkeeping business and this is the perfect printer! I love it! The duplex printing is fantastic! I really do love it! It is simple and simply the best printer I've had! Believe me, being in business over 40 years I've had them all!
