Excellent Choice for Home

After only two weeks, I am highly pleased with the BLACK Laser copier. It was fairly easy to set up, although I did need to consult manual on a few items. It returns to its prior settings after power and wifi glitches that occur in my area. This is a huge plus. I'm not yet using all of the features yet (only copying and scanning to USB), but I know the other functions will work just as well. It is fast and reliable. I haven't gone through a toner cartridge yet, so I'm not sure how economical it will be, yet the tech specs indicate it will. The website was easy to use, order, and find answers. It is replacing numerous HP printers that I have gone through way too many times. I was spending hundreds of dollars annually on ink. This is my first Canon copier, and it looks like it will last a long time.

Happy with printer

Replaced an older HP MFP whose print spool functionality got broken by Win10. While the setup process can be clunky - the degree of flexibility is truly enormous - operation of basic and needed functions such as print, scan and fax is easy and reliable, so far, after a month's use.

Very nice!

So far, been a great printer! I just got it, so I tend to take my time making any firm judgements. But it's pretty quiet and very fast. Still evaluating reliability.

Feature loaded printer at a good price

I really like the double sided printing and scanning as well as scan to email. So many features, it's more than we need for our home.

PERFECT for small businesses.

Please don't pay attention to the negative reviews from people who can't set this thing up. It's not very difficult if you are even slightly tech savvy. This printer is perfect for our small business. I can easily scan documents directly to my computer, copies are easy to make, and I can print good quality color pages. The initial price for toner is a little expensive, but the price it costs to print a sheet of paper is cheaper than using an ink printer so it works out in the long run.

Good value, setup and documentation need work

After having the printer for about a month, I think it's a solid value for a B&W laser with dual side printing and scanner/fax. I purchased it due to children attending school remotely and printing out lots of assignments. The printer was packaged exceptionally well. The unit is heavy and pretty bulky, but it appears well built. Home network setup was initially a chore. The directions are very poor here (even online with Canon's knowledge base) and it took some time with online searches to fix a few issues. For me, the key was connecting to the “RemoteUI” with the PIN you initially set up and tweaking settings there. On certain computers, I initially had to always “override” the paper setting on the printer touchscreen to get a job to print. It turned out to be a paper bond setting for the paper drawer. Not obvious at all. AirPrint and wireless work well. No issues waking up from sleep mode. Overall, a good value once the setup is tweaked.

Good little workhorse, just wish it spoke my language

We've always had a Canon printer/copier/scanner so when the old one needed replacing, we selected the imageCLASS MF445dw. We have not been displeased. It's reliable but it, and the website, have some quirks; that's why I only give it three stars. I have to restart my computer everyday in order to scan, which is interesting. No one can tell me why this is. Also, I should be able to download a driver that keeps me apprised of the ink levels; but I cannot find the proper one. When I do download a driver that SHOULD work, I get a message that I need to download a driver. Go figure. Then to top it off, the website isn't very user friendly when it comes to figuring out support on one's own.

NOT for a busy 1-person law office

I purchased this printer a couple years ago based on the brand Cannon and based on the reviews. What I didn't understand is that it is NOT for runnnng hundreds of pages a day, even in a 1-person law office. The roller soaks up color and becomes squishy and leaves streaks down the page no matter how much you pay for toner.

User Interface Design by Rube Goldberg and implemented by Escher

Could they have found a more confusing way to design this thing? Holy (bleep) this is so insanely complicated to do the most basic of tasks. I have been using various brands of multi-function network printers for decades at home and never in my life could I have envisioned something taking so much (bleep) effort to configure this thing. And who the heck logs into a printer to configure it with a user number and a four digit PIN?! I know, I'm a home user and don't need the absurd complexities of this. As an office worker (I'm an electrical engineer and computer guy) I would just walk past this thing and find another printer in the office to use because I have far less time to do a simple task while working than I do at home. There is absolutely no excuse for how awful this thing is. It's like Rube Goldberg designed it and Escher implemented it.
