Results will vary according to the ambient temperature. The temperature outside the bag and in the bag before filling. Many factors can impact the length of time any items stay frozen, including ice. The starting temperature of the contents, the temperature surrounding the ice, etc. can all impact the melting point. Ice packs or ice substitutes with a lower freezing point are preferable on extra hot days and starting with already cold contents. Ice packs or ices substitutes can also focus the cold better than loose ice cubes. Ice packs or ice substitutes with a lower freezing point are preferable because they minimize the amount of condensation that can occur on the bottom of your cooler (i.e. dampness that is caused by the cold air from the cooler meeting the hotter ambient air). Ice packs or ices substitutes can also focus the cold better than loose ice cubes. Crushed ice or Ice chips are not recommended for use in any cooler as testing has shown it does naturally melt faster than ice cubes. Other factors such as the starting temperature of the contents, and temperatures around the cooler can also impact the coolers performance.
