Good Buy
I purchased this tv about a week ago and so far I am very impressed with the sound/picture quality. The price was unbeatable. However, when comparing this tv to my 46 inch samsung smart tv, there is no comparison. Samsung's picture quality is far superior. I wouldn't let that effect my rating of this product because I figured that it wouldn't be able to beat Samsung. Anyway, the picture on this vizio is great; just need to tweak the picture settings a little bit. Sound is great for an led tv. The "surround sound" sounds impressive. I would recommend this television to anyone, but if you're looking for an amazing picture, spend the extra cash and get a Samsung, Sony or Panasonic.
Really great value
The stars finally aligned to allow me to spend some money on upgrading from a 20 year old CRT to a TV from this century. I spent a lot of time looking for the best bang for my hard-earned buck. Lots of reading customer and trade mag reviews, store visits, asking friends, and this TV seemed to be the best deal. I had a list of minimum features, and this one hit them all-1080p, at least 3 HDMI ports (this one has 4), built in WiFi, entertainment apps, 120Hz refresh (this TV KINDA has that), good reviews, and at least a 46" screen (yeah, I'll take 50"). No matter how many TVs I looked at, I kept coming back to this one, I found nothing else out there even close to the price I paid with all the features and positive review this one has. The picture is great, and the thin frame and small 'Vizio' logo in the bottom right corner-compared to other brands who put a large one dead center bottom-makes it look sleek and attractive, even when it's turned off. The auto-dimming feature works great-as sun streams in and out of the living room window, the screen automatically and subtly adjusts to compensate-the matte screen helps a lot with glare as well. I only have 2 minor complaints, and they are the same ones that I consistantly saw in customer and professional reviews: first, the sound is adequate, but just. Definately not so inadequate that it should be a deal breaker for anybody, but external speakers or a soundbar will be my first add-on in the near furture. Secondly, it's not true 120Hz refresh. From what I've read, it's achieved more through software than hardware. Motion is definatley better than 60Hz, but I've seen several 120Hz TVs, and I can tell there's a difference. The upside, is that there is no 'soap opera' effect, which drives me nuts on some TVs. Again, for me anyway, not a deal breaker-the price, sharp picture and other features more than make up for this. A very common issue (you can find site after site of chat boards dealing with this) is with Netflix. Once I got the WiFi set up, the apps I tried worked great (YouTube, Hulu, Amazon etc), but not Netflix. It would load, could sign in and select a video, but video would not play. There are a hundred different fixes for this (again, look it up), and some work for some people, but none worked for me until I did this, so I would recommend trying it first if you have a Netflix issue: turn TV off, unplug from wall, hold power button down for 30 seconds (the button on the leftt side of the TV itself, not the one on the remote). plug TV back in, turn it on and try Netflix again. Since I did this, Netflix is working flawlessly. I love that there is a Netflix button right on the remote. Just push it and you're there. Hope this review and Netflix hint is helpful.
Best deal out there
I had purchased this as a gift for my son and his girlfirend. The TV came damaged but when I called Sams they had someone come out the next day to pick up the damaged Tv and shipped a new one. It was all done within 7 days, even with holidays! he new TV is just fine, the picture is awesome and I think Vizio is one of the best TV's out there.
So far so good
Purchased this online as a Black Friday special. Really impressed with the picture and sound. The only "issue" I've had is with one of the HDMI ports; but to be honest, I'm not sure if it's a problem with my cable box, the HDMI cable, or the TV - I'm still trying to isolate it. I kept receiving a "Lost Signal" message, but after changing to another HDMI port, I'm not having the error. Overall I'm happy with it. The WiFi was easy to hook up and works as advertised.
Great for the price
Purchased this on a black Friday special for under $500. Great TV for the price. Internet access is extrememly simple to set up and operate. Service calls are answered in the United States. First time with an LED TV and trying to get the picture/color tuned to my preference which is the only reason I gave it 4 stars versus 5.
Great TV
Purchased as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend , he had been talking about getting a smart TV for some time. This one is awesome, fantastic picture and sound, went up easily on the mount we already had. Love that there's a Netflix button on the remote, we use it every day. I was skeptical because of the brand name, but so far so good.
Very good TV for the price
The picture is crystal clear. Good sound quality when set using non-surround sound -- with surround sound option, spoken volume is low compare to background sound especially for song. Manual stated that usb drive must be format in FAT32, but it will also read NTSF format to view video files. So far it only recognizes .avi and .mp4. I haven't check other extension, but it can't see .mkv files. Just need to change the extension from .mkv to .ave and it will play.
Great Buy
I live on the east coast. I purchased this TV and had it shipped to my daughter in Arizona. Until now she had been watching a small 21" tv. She found it easy to install and says it has a great picture and features. Her neighbors simply love the quality of the picture and the price. This is definitely one of the best buys I ever made.
Didn't last long
Bought the TV a little over 3 years ago, leds started to fail. Decided I would replace them myself, did it successfully with another Vizio E60 model that led's failed as well one week prior. Other tv works fine now, this one has no picture because of the lcd screen I imagine, the led's work fine now, just lost picture. Don't think I will try another Vizio, I like a tv that lasts more than 3 years.
Hello Dave2167, defects like this are extremely rare in or out of warranty. We’d really love the opportunity to have our tech support team run through some troubleshooting steps to see if we can get the TV up and running for you. When you have a free moment, they’re available through text message, chat, or over the phone. Just go to support.VIZIO.com and click on ‘Contact Us’.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased this television as a replacement for our Sony plasma that finally died. We bought a VIZIO because my brother-in-law buys their televisions and swears by them. We haven't been disappointed with the brand either, but this E series isn't perfect. First off, the sound is incredibly thin, so a soundbar is an absolute must. The picutre is good but there are flaws. If you're watching ice hockey, the LED arrays stand out by creating bright "box shapes" and darker areas in between the arrays. Game of Thrones is nearly unwatchable. So those are the two extremes. Sports such as baseball, football, etc. are beautiful to watch; news and other programming are bright and clear. The remote is weak, however the downloadable VIZIO app is awesome! Overall, the television is great and we hope that it lasts for a long time.
