I've been using TT for more than 20 years, except for one miserable year when I tried another tax software. For the most part it will serve you well, unless you have a very complex tax situation with lots of partnerships and foreign investments. I don't, so no problem. Now that I'm retired, my tax situation is a bit less complicated. I have two suggestions for TT programmers. (1) Make the fonts a bit larger for us old folks. (2) Work with TIAA/CREF to automatically download 1099-Rs so I don't have to type everything over, and over, and over again. Please.

The Illinois state return step-by-step neglected to include the Illinois schedule M information regarding additions and subtractions to income. On the US step-by-step, it's annoying to have to go through a series of steps that are already completed from a previous session. Maybe this can be improved.

I've been a TurboTax user for a long time now, and probably will be for life. The Federal tax process is very solid with lots of good hints. The NY State forms are less intuitive, less consumer friendly, with less helpful hints. This is the weak point in the whole process.

I've used Turbo Tax for a couple of decades and it does look & feel like an old friend. However, unlike an old friend, each new iteration acts like it has forgotten what I've been telling it for years. While I appreciate the opportunity to review/update entries along the way, some of the questions feel like starting from scratch. Why doesn't the software know that Florida has no state income tax? I am REPEATEDLY having to decline to work on my "state tax return". My primary complaint with the software is the inability to print directly from the screen. My list of donations, for instance, is what I want...not 30 or 40 pages, each with one charity listed. Once I have entered all deductibles, I would like to print that list...even if I elect to use the standard deduction. I know that this is not the first time I have made these observations known, but nothing has come of my effort to improve the tax payer experience. Please acknowledge, in some way, my concerns both as a long term user and as an Intuit stockholder.

the section near the end about potential savings, that offered to help with by recommending an ira had a bug - it told me I should put money in a regular ira and then when I went back to do that in the proper program area, Turbotax said I could not have an ira... that was something I had already discovered... so conflicting info in 2 parts of turbotax.

I've had no response from the IRS re this return yet, of course, but previous years of filing by Turbo Tax have been successful. I got printouts for my VA state returns which included the Federal forms also; my Commissioner of the Revenue says they don't need these, just the state-specific ones. We'll see...................

I have used MacInTax and TurboTax for many years. It has always worked well until this year. When I was trying to login I kept entering the same info only to receive a message saying it was wrong. I double and triple checked the numbers. Finally, on the fourth try the info was accepted.

I am normally a fan of the product and have recommended it to friends. This year was a disappointment: tried to edit the data for a rental property sold and could not find a way to do it (other than override in the form (not possible to change on the step-by-step guide). As I didn't like to have the figures showing in red and as overridden, I started a new return with no success, it still thinks it has the data. Had to reinstall the product. Wasted two hours.

The process is a simple overall system and it helps if you force yourself to organize all of your tax related documents from the first day of the year into the same sections that exist in Turbo Tax, "Income" and "Deductions" and this will speed things tremendously.

I have been a turbo tax user since the early 80's. I remember the floppy disk. Each and every year the turbo tax program has improved. However, there is a need to make sure that when e-filing that you can print the page that says that your return has been filed and that has all of the information about your return. Other than that, great job.
