This is worse and worse

I have a federal return in which I owe a little bit. I have a state return in which I am owed about the same amount. Turbotax won't run the state return for me because I am technically not required to file (this is true). However, there is no way to file the return to claim my refund. I am told that I can print the refund and send it in the mail, which is what I did in previous years. This year, it does not appear that turbotax has done anything to actually help with the state filing. I have no sense that there has been any analysis and non of the "Reviews" I'm being prompted to carry out for this "issue" ever lead to any change in the turbotax messenges. I am left completely on my own. So, next year, I'll probably skip turbotax and just do it all, federal and state, myself. Looks like turbo tax just wants to function as a spreadsheet for me, which isn't really helpful.

Great Program

I've been using this program for the past 8 years to file my taxes. It makes it so easy and quick. I will be using it again for next years taxes. A couple of disappointing items are that I could not really see what each item was on the final return. For example, it said I had a capital gain but I was not able to go back and verify where it was from. I would have liked to be able to click on the final return and verify where the information came from. The other item was I got the Premier version instead of the deluxe version. I thought the premier version would give me additional information but it did not. It had an advice portion at the end that seemed very basic and not really useful. I'll just be getting the deluxe version next year.

When using the guide to enter income and deductions and you complete one of the line items it takes you back to the top of the list instead of taking you to the next line item in that category to enter. Then you have to scroll down to the next line item to continue. Waste of time especially in the deductions section! It has been that way for years and should be changed to improve the flow of entry. I do not give up my right to free speech and do not intend for this criticism to hurt anyone.

Great softoware

I have used turbo tax for 18 years and love the software. It's easy to use, and guides you through all the information you need to calculate your federal and state return. I will continue to use Turbo Tax in the future. My only issue is that it took me multiple (8 or 9) attempts to process my payment for e-filing my state return. From multiple logon issues, to updating my account at least 3 times, to entering my credit card info 3 times, very frustrating. Please make the payment process easier!

Saved thousands on accountant fees.

I have used TT for about 10 years. Have never had an issue with the IRS. Lots of friends go to accountants because of investment data or thinking they'll get a better refund. TT imports and processes my investment info directly from the companies I use...easy peasy! Plus, accountants HATE to do itemized donations and tell you they aren't worth it...I just brought down the taxes I owed by over $400 by itemizing my donations using TT's It's Deductible. Yes, a little time consuming (make sure you keep your receipts and detailed lists during they year), but definitely worth it!!!

Thank goodness I am done!

Used TT for many years. Foreign tax section easier this year. When you leave a page and sign out, it would be nice if it took you back to same page. Also sometimes it removes answers in the section when you do this, and that is frustrating to have to retype in info. I'd add a save on each page to assure user that each page is going to remain what the user put in. I'll continue to use next year.

Always there for me

Been using TurboTax for as long as I can remember and, when I recently thought I might need a CPA, he told me, after I entered everything in TurboTax for him to review, he basically uses the same thing so there was no need for his services. How awesome is that?

Good Product

See above. I got a little frustrated that when answering the questions for foreign tax credit there was no option to bypass all the "how much of dividend was foreign earned" when my total tax paid was well under the IRS $300 threshold. I had no idea as it was all earned as a result of a Mutual Fund investment for which I had imported the 1099-DIV. There is no such breakout.

TGI finished

I will have an average of 100 hours in entering documentation for our income tax. Each time I come back to Turbo Tax I must review screens and re-check the same boxes I've already checked to get to the continue box to return to where I left off. This just adds to my time. Shouldn't there be a way to pick up where I left off?
