no hydroplaning

These tires have been great especially with all the rain we have had this summer. The water got pretty deep on the roads at times but I didn't hydroplane at all. I felt I had good control over the car at this time. The ride is smoother under normal conditions, but I especially appreciate the safety and stability. For the future I am anticipating help with the snow. These tires have been great and I rely on the Michelin name for quality.

So far, so good!

So far, I love the feel of these tires - I drive on mountain roads and in wet weather, and they have been very comfortable and sticky (sticky is a good thing in a tight curve on a wet road!). I'm hoping we don't have much snow this winter, but if we do, I feel confident I will not get stuck on that one uphill slope a mile from home again this year! I think my gas mileage has suffered a bit, though, maybe 2 to 2.5 miles/gallon. But the feeling of security on the roads I travel is worth a few more pennies of gas. I'm very glad I purchased this set of tires for my Honda!

Great tires

I travel a lot 20+k a year these tires have made it a lot easier to do. Very comfortable ride and handle very well. Also super quiet on the hi way. Not so good in deep snow or slushy situations. But a great tire in all other situations. Would buy again

40,000 Mile Defender review

I average 50,000 miles of California Freeway driving per year. My sedan has 412,000 miles as I write this. After the original OEM Michelins wore out, I started using Michelin Hydro-Edge tires. All three sets of Hydro's gave me an average of 105,000 per set. (I rotate and check pressure every 5,000 miles) The Defenders on my car know were sold as the replacement for the discontinued Hydros. Currently I have 40,000 on them and they seem to be wearing as well as the Hydros did (90,000 mile warranty). HOWEVER, I have experienced hydroplaning at moderate speed with them which never happened with the older thread design. Noise level and ride quality are both above average but could be better. The could have been better with the Hydros as well. Handling, like all Michelins, is excellent. All in all, a tire I can recommend but be careful in the rain.

I feel safe again!

When I went to buy 4 tires I had it in my head I could not afford Michelin because they were the top of the line tires. I am estatic to say I have 4 Michelin Defenders and feel safe again. I just went through a heavy rain storm since purchasing the tires and did not hydroplane or have any problems driving. I will definately be buying Michelin tires again.

Great ride and handling

We put the Defender tires on our 2002 Chrysler T&C almost a year ago and drive the van daily. When we had them installed it was a whole different van. We were amazed when we drove it home, it was so much quieter. The ride and handling is wonderful. We live in FL where we get heavy summer down pours and I feel like I have complete control wet or dry. We have run Michelin tires on several of our previous vehicles and that is the biggest reason we looked at Michelin tire first. We've never had any negative experience running Michelin tires.

Great Ride, Problem Free

I love Michelin Tires. I have them on my Hyundai Tucson and they really change the ride. The Tuscon handled OK and has a rather uncomfortable ride with the factory supplied tires; once I had the Michelin Defender tires, my whole experience of my car changed. Much more comfortable ride, better handling, better cornering, more security in any driving situation. In snow, heavy rain or heat, I never have any complaints. Michelins are always my first choice.

Great Tire

Bought a set of these for my wife's car August 12 car had 86k right off the bat noticed a big improvement in ride and noise over previous tires. The car now has 116k tires rotated every 5-6k miles and they are wearing evenly I have no doubt they will make it to the 90k mile mark! As far as mpg goes my wife doesn't keep with it so its hard to say. I would say they help being a LRR tire. I will be buying a set of these when I need tires on my car!

They are without the best tire for me

I have used michelin tires for years and am 100% couldn't be any happier with them. I have been driving for approx. 70 years, under all kind of conditions and they have proven to be the best. Through the years I have owned various types of tire and none have made me as happy as I am with Michelins. Keep up the good work.

Smooth tires

Has Harmony tires from Michelin before and was very happy with them. It came time to replace them and the Defender is the model that Michelin produces now. There is a little more road noise (very little), maybe from tires with more tread on them. Very smooth ride on the freeway and around town. They do very well in the rain. It hasn't snowed yet so not sure how they will do there, but if they are close to the Harmony they will do great. (The Harmony was wonderful in the snow)
