What happened to my mileage???

I'm somewhat disappointed with my Michelins...put four new defenders on my 2009 Prius and immediately noticed a loss of about 4-6 miles per gallon with the same driver and everything else being as equal as it can be. The mileage was not nearly as good, and I had actually hoped that it might go UP! After all, Michelin claims these are low rolling resistance tires, right??

Amazing tires

I bought these Defender tires due to being made by Michelin and also due to the miles warranty. I put these on my Mustang. I had another brand and burned through most of the tread within 30,000 miles. After putting these on, the gripping power is great. Tires handle amazing also in snow and rain. When my Honda is due for tires, I will definately be replacing those with Michelin Defenders. Highly Recommend!

These Tires are the Best I Have Owned

When driving a mini van, especially the distances we do with two sons in college and driving 2,000 miles each year for vacation, we decided to get the Michelin Defender tires. I was recently on I-95 and got into a row of vehicles that was driving over the speed limit. It was also raining at the time. Even at those highway speeds, with a fully loaded van, there was no swaying and the vehicle held the road very well. We were able to average 32mpg in our vehicle and in the past we averaged 25mpg. I'm sure it wasn't just the tires, but I would have to say the tires were part of the increased fuel mileage. What I appreciate most is these tires are quiet. You don't get any road noise and they truly are a four-season tire. Living in SW Pennsylvania, we get some fierce weather and these tires have handled it all. Further, the mileage warranty is the best of any tire I know of. Michelin stands behind what it sells. The price of the tires are not that much more expensive than 40,000 mile tires and the extra money you pay is well worth it in tread life and overall long-term performance.

Great handler

So Far So good .. quiet ride, handles great in all weather, Love this tire for highway use and around town. Gas mileage seems to be up a little, need more data. Have only had for three months now. What shanghai me was wife said car handles differently, much more responsive in turns.

True Michelins !!!

Replaced my Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires with the Defenders on my Merc-S. Its been 4000 miles since I replaced the tires. Was a little skeptical that I may be compromising on the ride and noise for the extra mileage the Defender tires offer. But to my pleasant surprise and liking none of that has been impacted. The ride is very quite as with Michelin Primacys. The real test is going to be in the snow weather which seems to be coming to our part of the country shortly. Will keep updating the site with my experiences over the seasons and increased mileage on the tires.

Defenders saved my life!

Very simple...Defenders saved my life. The car was sliding all over in Chicago's winter ice and snow with the original tires. Now, I stop readily with no sliding danger. Mileage is better with a smooth ride. Thanks Michilin.....no more fear of driving in bad weather.

Cross Country w/ PopUp Camper in-tow

Last summer (2012), I purchased 4 new Michelin Defenders for my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. This was for my cross country drive for my new military assignment. I drove from Charleston, SC to San Diego, CA then shipped the vehicle to Honolulu, HI. I towed a pop up camper with the mission of my family and I stopping at every National Park we could find along the way. My wife and I have four kids all under 12, so we had to have dependable equipment to keep us safe on our journey. The Dreputation of Michelin and the review of the Defender tire gave us confidence that our 3000+ mile drive would go well. And it did. With a tow, we drove thru rain, mountain, and desert with precision handling, comfortable ride, low noise, and strong foundation. The tread continues to wear well one year later in my new tropical climate. Great trip. Great tire.

Have Michelin Wheels will travel

It always amazes me at the quality difference in tires. I have tried other tires and ultimately come back to Michelin every time. The tires last longer, the ride is smoother and I like the control it gives me when driving, especially in rain. I have to say the only thing I don't like about Michelin tires is the cost. But you do get what you pay for. If I buy a 90,000 mile tire I get 90,000 miles of smooth travels and safety in my car. In fact now that 2 of my 4 kids are driving I have put Michelin's on their cars too. I don't have to worry about them on the road to due poor quality tires.

Quietest Tires

I researched tires for a long time before I decided that the Michelin Defenders were the one for us. My wife drives the car 99% of the time and I was most concerned with safety. I was a bit worried about road noise because I read a few bad reviews, but there were plenty of good ones too. I had to depress the clutch at 75 mph to quiet the engine noise so I could even hear the tires. Even then, they were barely audible above the wind noise. The model is a '89 Corolla. Too early to tell about wear, but these are the best tires I have ever bought.

Michelin Defender

It has been 6 months since I put these tires on my car and they have handled well in rain and wet roads. I drove 70 miles a day on these tires and have had no problems. They are a major improvement over the tires put on this vehicle when made. They lasted less than 2 years. Love the Michelins.
