I have been using Downy April Fresh for as long as I have been doing laundry. I love the fresh smell of our clothes from using Downy. A few years ago, I was disappointed when the scent pearls were added and ruined the wonderful smell. Now, I just bought a new bottle of Downy with the new "fabric protect". After washing my first load of laundry I knew right away something was not right! The scent is not the same. It's very strong and unpleasant. I want the normal Downy April Fresh back! My clothes don't smell good anymore! Why change the scent of something that everyone loves so much?

I received this product as a free sample to test (these are my own opinions). When I opened the box the smell was overpowering. I typically try to stay away from scented laundry products, and will most likely pass this product onto someone else who will use it.

I've been a faithful Downy user for more then 35 years and have always loved this product. Yesterday I opened a new bottle and was overwhelmed with the floral scent. I thought I had incorrectly purchased a scent other then original April Fresh Downy, but no I hadn't. Why has the scent changed? It still performs great on static, softness, and wrinkles, but the scent is so overbearing I'm unable to wear clothes that have been rinsed in it. Please bring back the tried and true original April Fresh scent we all have loved for years... From the reviews its very apparent I'm not the only one that feels this way. Let's hope P & G hears our pleas and brings back the scent we've all known and loved for decades. I'll keep checking reviews in the hope that the original scent returns, but until it does I won't be purchasing Downy again. So disappointed to say goodbye to a favorite product I've loved for years.

I have used Downy all my life (my parents and I), and am a usually a big fan. However, my most recent purchase has such an over-powering smell that feels much too strong. It is overly perfumed and lingering, and I am going to have to look at alternative products.

I've been using Downy for years and years...it's the ONLY fabric softener I have used! UNTIL NOW!! I bought Downy a few days ago...only looked for the April Fresh scent listed on it...washed my clothes, walked into my laundry room and couldn't believe the SMELL ...actually it smelled like old clothes that had been sitting around...or maybe a generic detergent! I examined the clothes...smelled my Cheer bottle...smelled the Downy and then knew what was wrong...looked at the label and saw FABRIC PROTECT! omg...it's HORRIBLE and CERTAINLY NOT APRIL FRESH! YOU GUYS MESSED UP WHEN YOU ADDED "PEARLS" a few years ago...but NOW YOU'VE LOST A CUSTOMER!!! (and by the looks of things, more than `1 ) It wasn't broke...why did you mess it up??? Unless you bring back the original/or even latest Downy, I won't be buying anymore! In fact, I'm hoping I'll be able to get my money back...going back to the store tomorrow!! THE SMELL OF THIS IS HORRIBLE....WHAT WERE YOU PEOPLE THINKING?? AND if you wash clothes properly, that will protect them enough...WE DON'T NEED YOU PROTECTING OUR CLOTHES!!!! Wondering if the dryer sheets are messed up, also??? LOOKING FOR ANOTHER FABRIC SOFTENER PRONTO!!!!

I've used April fresh for as long as I can remember. I'm in my 30s. My mom used the same scent as long as I can remember also. BUT something is different. I thought the packaging looked different but didn't think anything of it. Then when I opened it- whoa! The scent was overpowering. Washing a load of clothes with it fills my entire 2 story 2700 sq ft house with the smell. I'm not exaggerating. I don't even fill my downy or detergent to the first line of the cup. I never have (a professor filled us in on that once-washes the same and makes the bottle last longer) but the scent is ridiculously strong still. Not only is it strong but it's altered. Please. Please. Please change April fresh back to the clean classic smell.

Can't beat the smell!!!! This stuff is so strong and smells AMAZING and the freshest scent out there. Leaves my clothes soft and moisturized. I will forever keep using this! Best fabric softener on the market. Can't beat the value for the amount you get either

I can't believe that you would change the formula for the April Fresh Downey. I purchased a bottle and returned it because the scent was nothing like the old scent. My husband, who never notices anything when it comes to laundry, noticed and said that it smelled bad. In my opinion, it smells like a cheap man's cologne. Please change back to the original April Fresh Downey that I love!
