I'm impressed by its cooling power, which was said to only be enough for a small room, but has thus far managed to cool my entire apartment in the course of 7-12 hours. The downside to this is that there seems to be a lot of condensation, and there are points where the device seems to slow down for about a half hour or so, and make alarmingly loud noises that had me up in the middle of the night searching for the manual. [Some of the noises weren't listed in 'these are normal noises' section.] But, that seems to come and go, and it does what it's supposed to do. The setting dials are easy to understand, and installation was only the usual mildly-terrifying experience of balancing a heavyish, breakable device in a window sill.

I bought the Frigidaire 5000 BTU Window-Mounted Room Air Conditioner for emergency use only, and redundancy. My small generator cannot power the big AC but can handle this window unit. Before another heat dome moved in with possible failure of the power grid; or intentional rotating blackouts, I wanted a backup. We are now protected against failure of the big AC, power; or both! All my windows swing open to the side so I decided to remove one without modifying the frame or mounting (that makes me a sidewinder?). It took time to think through the adaptation and lots of measurements. A sheet of rugged Lexan plastic replaced the whole window. A hole was then cut at the bottom to admit the AC (without side panels). The 2x4 (in picture) tightly fits across the inside of the window and presses on the Lexan without screws or modification of the frame. Holes are made in the AC top rail and screws passed through the Lexan to the inside 2x4. These screws hold the AC in place and are adjusted for the back tilt. It works like a charm and was amazed at the amount of cooling.
