Hi Jodi_b! Thank you you for taking the time to share your experience with us. Some tips that can assist with your matter, is to ensure that there are not any items blocking the vents. Restricted air flow can cause the air conditioner to not cool as designed. If the room temperature is very high, the air exiting the unit may not feel cold. Air exiting the unit is usually between 17°-20°F lower than the Intake air, and may not feel cold to the touch until the room temperature is reduced. You may need to allow the air conditioner to run for several hours in order to notice a considerable difference, after making adjustments.
