Great tire for a low price.

These tires grip!  In the corners, from a dig, they just hook to the road. If you are looking for an ultra high performance tire but don't want to spend the cash higher end tires demand you can't go wrong with these.  I didn't get a lot of miles out of these tires but it is definitely NOT the tires fault.  I did lots of hard acceleration and downshifting and hard breaking.  I have already purchased a second set for this summer.

Still pretty new. Seems like a very good tire.

I purchased these tires for a friends car... 2004 Mustang V6. It has been modified to suit a handicapped friend of mine that has no legs. He drives very conservatively. All feedback I get from him is 100% positive. They were installed several months ago and have been driven through dry, rain and light snow conditions and they have given him good confidence in all conditions.  I am definitely going to consider buying these tires again when my other cars are ready!

Great Alternative to High Dollar Brands, Surpasses OE Tires

I drive a LOT, averaging 30k miles a year. So when it came time for tires on my new Altima, I knew I didn't want to spend a grand on tires that wouldn't last a year. I have always been a big fan of Michelin, Continental and Pirelli for my mustangs, and being that General is part of the Continental family, I was more than willing to go by reputation alone. I work for a family owned chain tire & auto company with stores across the St Louis metro area and Kansas City, and after running these for the past 12k miles, I have been more than happy selling dozens of sets of these tires for people who also would prefer to not spend a ton of money, but still want a great performing tire.   In the clear weather, it grips well, and is willing to take on ramps and curves at speed without getting sketchy when nearing its limits. Come rain, you remain sure footed and have no problems. Even come heavy snow, no issues. This past winter was one of the harshest winters we have had in years, with large amounts of snow fall. Even on unplowed roads, with as many of 7 inches or more on the ground. I was left comfortable and was able to trust that I wouldn't be unable to make it to any destination. My Altima does not have the optional AWD system, and this tire is proof that with a quality tire it is not necessary in a car that isn't intended to be off road.  Another issue people tend to forget is that some tires will end up being loud, unbalanced after a short time, or have a harsh ride quality. And I can attest that they are very quiet, have a great ride, and even provides incredible mileage, surpassing the OE tire, without being a low rolling resistance tire that would leave you sacrificing grip and perfornance.. As usual things may change as the tire wears towards its end of life. And I will update as time goes by. But as of now, with over 12k on them, they show only minor wear that would be unnoticed by an untrained eye.

Very happy with these

Bought these tires and immediately went on a 2,000 mile road trip. Super happy with the noise, traction, and comfort of them. Spirited driving in my Fiesta ST and the tires always felt in control. Even performed fairly well in light snow (Up to 2"" on road). Would purchase them again.

Best Tire for Mazda 6

I've put almost 8,000 miles on these tires and so far I really like the ride quality, traction, low noise and overall performance characteristics.  I recommend them to anyone driving a Mazda 6 with 19"" wheels because they bring out the best of this vehicle.

Smooth Ride, Excellent in Rain, Superior Handling

I purchased the G-Max AS-05 tires about a week ago and have already logged over 500 miles with them on my 2007 Lexus ES350. I drive 30K interstate miles a year. I have almost 300K miles on my car and have always used the more expensive Michelin tires...and a few other ""trial"" brands which could never match Michelin performance. Well, as soon as I hit the road with the G-Max tires I knew I had a winner. The super smooth ride and tight steering response is 5 stars so far. Traction and overall vehicle control on wet, stormy roads has been excellent. Since I keep my car in top shape, including wheel alignments and rotate/balance every 5000 miles, I have a very good idea within the first 5000 miles on how tires will perform and last. It is my opinion that General's G-Max AS-05 has become Michelin's new worst nightmare. If these tires continue to perform well and last beyond 40K miles, then goodbye Michelin!!

I would buy again, and have, 2 sets.

On a small/light car, they have sharp turn in, twitchy which I like, good noise level, excellent grip for a street tire, and I don't have to worry about running them at temps below 40. One of my fav tires. Good bang for the buck, and I am a serious driver.

Very impressed!

I have a 2015 Dodge Charger RT and I drive a lot of miles for work, so I needed good all-around tires that were still able to keep up with my spirited driving style.  I was hesitant about taking the ""budget"" approach with these tires but have been extremely happy with the G-Max tires!  The lateral cornering ability of these tires, especially considering the heft of the Charger, is impressive.  It takes quite a bit to generate understeer and they remain predicable.   The wet traction is awesome! I had begun to question driving a rear-wheel drive vehicle in MN (it should be noted that I do have winter wheels and tires for the winter months) with all the rain and temperature changes, but the wet traction of the Generals is very impressive.  After 7000 miles treadwear seems to be even and minimal.

I like them better than the Pilot Sport

Bought a 2008 Miata that had Michelin Pilot Sport summer tires. I waited for summer, but even when the tires warmed up they noisy. Replaced with General AS-05. MUCH quieter and handle just as good as the Pilot's for our driving. I'm not saying it's better than the Pilot for all drivers, but it is a good, quiet tire. PS The main reason I tried General is my satisfaction with the Altimax 43 on our SUV.

Good but not so good

Coming from the Parent company Continentals DWS line which I am a huge fan of I decided to give the AS-05s a try due to some cost savings.  Well I will say right now you get what you pay for.  Impression at first was in a pretty bad rain storm. I have to admit that these tires are as grippy if not better then any DWS tire made in the last ten years.  Now the bad.  Slight flat spot/out of round sound coming from the two fronts when car is first driven in the morning.  Had to have the tires rebalanced three times and even went as far as to check the wheels to make sure no bends we're the culprit.  Needless to say the flat spot feel is a trait on DWSs as well for a few miles.   These tires are well for lack of words enhancing the flat spot experiance ten fold and then just stop and everything is wonderful and it's a smooth driving tire that's virtually silent.  So you park the car and then go back to drive somewhere else and what do you feel again the flat spot feel yet again.  I went as far as to check my tie rods just to make sure that was not the issue.  The balance is spot on and roadforced.  These tires are one of the worst tramlining tire In have ever driven on.  I honestly think the tread is the culprit but tramlining is very common anyway on alot of tires including the DWS line.  I will be swapping them out for another set of DWSs under the sastisfaction warranty.  But as I was saying the tire is great and will stack up to a DWS hands down.  However the quality of a DWS it is not.  The tread wear is also a 500 so it's a bit stickier then a DWS.  For me I learned my lesson and will just stick to Contis.
