Horrible Wear

I leased a 2016 Mercedes Benz C300 in Feb of 2017 that had these tires on it when i leased it . I have less than 18K miles on the car and i have to replace the tires. The tires have been rotated as per tire manufacturer specs and they still need to be replaced. I should not be changing tires on a car that has less than 20K miles.

Thank you for leaving a review of our tires. Although product use is excluded from the new vehicle tire warranty, we sent you an email offering assistance to you if the tires are evenly worn down to 2/32", with records of rotation every 6,000 miles. Unfortunately, we never received a reply. if you are still in need of assistance, we recommend replying to the email we sent to you on 2/12/2020.

These tires just don't last

Quite honestly I am baffled by the reviews of people saying they are getting 70-80k out of these tires. They came OEM on my Mercedes and I am replacing them this weekend at 21k like many of the other posters. I came to this site to see what they were rated for because I was surprised to be replacing them so early. I live in Southern California, so no real conditions that would cause premature tire loss and I am not one to drive this car hard. Mercedes does rotate tires as part of their service, but the service interval is every 10k miles which is probably why Continental asks for rotation every 6k miles. Oh well, won't waste money on another set.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Please keep in mind that although the basic service internal is 10,000 miles, the vehicle manufacture recommends rotating tires every 3,000 - 6,000 miles for all tires supplied as original equipment. If you have any question, please feel free to contact our office at continentaltire@custhelp.com.

Garbage Tires

These tires came on my 2012 Hyundai Elantra. I've owned the car for 17 months and have 13,300 miles on the car. I baby my vehicle, tires rotated as they should be. I had it in for the next tire rotation two days ago when the dealer tells me they need replaced NOW before we get any snow (I live in southwest PA). Tires are all worn evenly, but ANY tire should last more than 13,000 miles - oh wait, he said I MIGHT get another 1,000 -3,000 on them. I didn't have any problems with these tires, but I certainly would never buy them after this experience - and I'll be sure to check if they're stock on the next car I buy. It WILL make a difference in what I purchase next!

Never again

I purchased a set of 4 exactly 2 years ago yesterday. 22,000 miles later, they need to be replaced. My tread depth is 1/32" and both right side tires are at a 3 with the lefts being a 4 and 5. I have had my tires rotated with every oil change, ever 3,000 miles so I am sorry, these are not worth it. The rights should at least have been covered under warranty.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Based on the information provided, a low tread depth of 1/32" with a high tread depth ranging from 3/32" - 5/32", this may point towards a vehicle issue. For ongoing tracking, it is a good idea to request tread depth measurements across the face of the tires and in three locations around the circumference.

118,000 miles on factory tires

I bought a 2017 vw passat with 235/40 r 19 conti procontacts. I now have 118,000 miles on the car with 3 of the original tires. I hit a giant pot hole and blew one out. But I also hit a piece of concrete with another wheel and it cracked the rim and did not do any damage to tire inside or out. I can probably get another 20,000 miles out of these tires but I might change before winter gets here. Plan on buying another set.

Weak Sidewall Tires

Drove over a pothole and a front tire sidewall cracked and tore.. I didn't think much of it because hey, those kinds of things happen. But a week later the outside sidewall on one of my rear tires developed a big bubble - totally unrelated to the pothole incident. I have absoluteltly no faith in these tires. In fact, my feeling is they are a high risk purchase.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We recommend returning to the place of purchase to have the tire inspected for warranty consideration. The local dealer should be able to determine if the damage is due to impact with the pothole or another issue. Should you or the dealer have a question, please contact our office Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM ET, at 1-800-847-3349.

DO NOT BUY THESE TIRES

I have purchased 5 of these tires in the last year and now I need a new one. They wear excessively fast, I hit a pot hole once and it it went flat, This last tire went flat on what I can only see rock salt to be the cause. 214 Mercedes offset package.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. Based on the review, this is damage from impacts with a curb or pothole. Please keep in mind that all replacement Continental Tires included coverage for accidental damage from road hazards for 12-months or the first 2/32" of treadwear; whichever, comes first. https://continentaltire.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/848

Manufacturers must get these free

These came standard on my son's VW rabbit, and on my Porsche Panamera 4S. That seems like an awful large price difference to cover with one tire. The problem is that these tires felt low on grip for the VW, let alone for the Porsche. Neither set lasted as long as an all-season should for either car. I replaced the VW with Coopers, and the Porsche with Michelins and have never looked back on either. Continental makes some great products, but this is not one of them. They do look nice though. Don't buy these tires just because they came on your vehicle. There are much better options for much less money.

Very harsh ride and very noisy

We own 2 Jaguar X-types, a 2003 with 16-inch wheels and a 2004 with 17 inchers, both cars purchased new and equipped with ProContacts. I know little technical information about tires, so simply have had my Jaguar dealer replace them with the same Conti ProContacts when required. We have homes on Cape Cod and in Sarasota and so drive in a variety of conditions. (I drive to New Hampshire to ski, and of course we have summer conditions in Florida.) The tires are just unbelievably noisy, the car with 17-inch wheels being by far the worst. (I notice others on this site complain of noise.) Moreover, the ride on the 17-inchers is very, very harsh. Any small pothole -- and there are lots on Cape Cod roads -- means a severe, stomach-turning jolt. So much so that I am finally learning all I can about tires and I intend to replace these at the first opportunity. I also happen to be an enthusiastic road biker, and give Conti high marks for their bike tires. It is unfortunate that they do not do better on auto tires.

3rd Set on Car

My 07 GTI came with these tires as OE, 50K on first set, 55K on second set. The 3rd set will be mounted on Friday. I stuck with the Conti's because they have served me well and figure that changing to another less expensive tire may prove to be a bad decision. Only issue I have is that they aren't the greatest in the snow so I have a set of winter tires to help with that matter. In the rain these tires are fine, including when they are at the end of tread life. I had to make an emergency stop in the rain when the first set had 45K on them and I was shocked that they didn't brake free on the wet road and the anti-lock brakes didn't even kick in. My experience is that some tires work great on some cars but poorly on others. My other car a 2000 Audi A4 has the same tire and they wear somewhat quicker but still perform very well.
