The mechanical penicals do not need to be sharpened and still write with the same kind of lead. The lead does not smudge, so yes i recommend this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been buying buc lead pencils forever. They only seemto get better. The xtra sparkle mechanical pencils are only sparkly on the actual pencil. It has nothing to do with the lead itself. I got 0.07 in lead size. This size is just right not being too fat or too slim in lead size. I dont press down that hard when i write thpugh the lead itself is very sturdy. I buy these for my 9 year old as well and she presses down pretty hard and they still withhold her pressing and dont break.

I sometimes find mechanical pencils annoying as the lead breaks too easily- I don't seem to have this problem with BIC pencils. They have strong lead and less breakage. I think this package is a great value for ten pencils!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I gave these pencils 4 stars as they are really nice however they come with just a tiny piece of lead so I had to go out and buy more lead right away which isnt really a problem, these would be great got school or at home and they are really sparkly! My 11 year old granddaughter loves them! They are made of really great quality and the lead does last awhile.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Xtra Sparkle Mechanical Pencil are great for the grandkids. I have other mechanical pencils that are costly and don't want my grandkids to break them. The Bic pencils are sturdy and we love them. A special color for each child. We also like the sparkle that adds an extra touch. The lead does not smear and doesn't get all over their hands. They are also easy to grip. I would recommend these pencils for young and old.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Old school pencils! I dig them though especially with the colors and bling you can get now. When I was a kid they just had orange haha! Grips better than a standard pencil, it's a #2, so it can be used for tests. Love these!

I've always hated a scratchy pencil. It gives me feelings like nails on the chalkboard. I never used a pencil when I was little becuase of this. Of course now there are zillions of options, and I know which pencils I am comfortable with. I got this pencil free when I oredred my textbooks. I tested it today and yeesh! VERY SCRATCHY. I would not invest in this pencil. Sorry Bic.
